Introduction

HDI Dune Players

General Options

My Movies Client, Server/Client and My Movies for Windows Home Server stores movie meta-data for HDI's Dune media players. This allows you to browse your videos by genres, years, parental rating and similar, as well as display movie covers, actors, descriptions and similar meta-data on on your HDI Dune player.

This guide will focus on storing meta-data for the Dune using the Collection Management program, however the meta-data files for the Dune unit can be stored also by the My Movies for Windows Home Server.

The meta-data integration for the HDI Dune consists of three different features:

Movie covers will be created, letting you browse all your titles using nice looking cover overviews.
Movie meta-data will be created for each title, allowing you to see descriptions, actors and similar.
A movie index will be created, allowing you to browse your titles by genres, decades, years, parental rating and others.

The functionalities for the Dune can be combined with My Movies ability to index and monitor movie folders, as well as add meta-data data automatically for all your titles, making it a simply, fast and effective way of creating a movie meta-data index on your Dune.

Configuration

On a My Movies Server/Client or Client, open the Collection Management program, and from the menu select "Configure", "General Options", and select the "Folder monitoring" tab. Scroll down, and check the checkbox "Store meta-data for HDI Dune (AAI files)". Checking the checkbox, the program will ask you to configure details. The configuration options are:

Template

This setting specifies which template to use. By default, the implementation only comes with one default template, be we hope to be able to provide additional templates later on.

Interface Language

The interface language defines the language used in the index, which means all texts that are not part of the actual meta-data.

Dune Configuration

Dune Content Paths

Dune content paths is used to configure where you have your movies placed, and where you would like the index to be created. Best is to have only one place for movies, as the Dune supports only relative paths, which means one big index cannot be created for multiple directories, but each location will have their own index.

Index Folder Name

Here you can configure the name of the folder where the index is created in. By default, this is set to "Index", but you can rename it to something else.

Updating

You can update the created index manully from the "Dune Content Paths" area, but in many situations you would like the index updated after adding or removing titles. This section allows you to configure that you would like to be prompted to update the index when adding, removing or editing titles. Also, you can configure that folder monitoring automatically updates the index when it adds or removes titles.

Automatic Update

If you have folder monitoring configured and running, then you can let folder monitoring automatic update your index every once in a while, to make sure it always represents the actual content of your database.
