I have MM 4.02 installed on a PC in my home theater. I use an xbox 360 in my living room to playback my movies (video_ts folders), TV series (.MKV and .AVI), and Live / Recorded TV from my Ceton card. I use the transcoding feature of MM to play formats that are unsupported in the xbox's MC extender.
This has all been working well for quite some time. Within the past day or two, I've started having some problems with AVI files. They play video through the xbox, but no sound.
If I go downstairs to the PC and play the file locally, sound works as expected. If I RDP with /admin to the PC from my laptop, the video plays normally and sound is working.
I did notice an update to the 360 around the same time that this stopped working properly, but don't know if that's the cause. Is anyone else having any issues playing AVIs with audio through MM?
Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this since it is working properly on the Media Center PC?
Thanks in advance for any help / ideas, John

As AVI's are played back directly through Media Center, this is not something we can help with, as it is not related to My Movies.

I also experienced a similar issue. I've been using Xbox as an extender now for about a year, but around the same time I loaded the xbox update, I'be been unable to play any movies through the xbox as an extender. I receive the following message 'The media is not direct compatible w/ Media Center extenders. Please see options for Transcoding media.'
Sorry about that binnerup, I've edited this post.
I was able to resolve my issue. For some reason, under Tools>Options> Media Extender 1> Extender Options it was changed to 'Play Direct' instead of 'Transcode'. By making this change, it resolved my issue. Not sure if it is still off topic or not, but it doesn't really matter.
I was able to find the fix by using this forum. It was an older post, but it helped. Thanks for yours, and everyone else's help. Luv the software.
Be well, AP

I have moved this to off topic, as it is not related to My Movies.
