Just want to check the market potential for this app, at least within the active community of the forum, which is probably just a very small fraction of the potential market for it...

Let's give MyMovies some motivation to invest 50k$ (quote from the developpers) for this app !

edit: Geez I can't vote in my own poll... I choose option 1 ! I'd pay extra for it.

Is this poll only for WP7 owners? Or is it for everyone? I want to understand the criteria so as to not skew your results. I don't own a WP7 and have no plans to own one. Therefore, I would not pay for the app. If you are only asking the WP7 population, you would get a much higher % in the Yes categories. However, I suppose, the actual count of Yes reponses is the most important thing to Brian; not necessarily the % of Yes responders.

If this should make any sense, it would need to be used only by users with WP7 devices, or users who plan to get one.

I have put it as a sticky.

I voted yes, I own a WP7 and use MM on our 7MC, WHS, and MCX setup. I bought the Android app (when I was using my Droid at the time).

However, here's an interesting take on the whole thing: with the upcoming Windows 8 release is there any plan of developing an "app" in the Metro theme to be sold in the app store for it? Especially since the coding between W8 and WP8 (and even WOA) is supposed to be very cross-platformish (some tweaking for screen sizes and hardware requirements but something like 80-90% of the codebase can be shared). Seems that should end up increasing the platform size quite a bit and hopefully make something like an app for WP7 a lot more reasonable. :)

Just to update this thread - there is still no plans for WP7.

The market share is still not even near where it makes sense for us.

Does My Movies have an API or SDK that could be leveraged and licensed so that third party developers could potentially create one? I know that My Movies is not open source but there are plenty of talented developers out there that could get something off the ground at their own expense.

I am sorry, but we are not opening this up to others, as it will give problems in the long run, should we decide to create an app.

A lot of apps are actually made in HTML5. So a mobile friendly website could potentially lead to a cheap (ish) WP7 app.

There are no plans to make a mobile friendly website, mainly for the reason that we do not want the free website offering to hurt sales of mobile applications.

It is unfortunate for WP7 users, but the purpose with the online collection website is not to use it yourself with your mobile, but to share your collection with the world.

+1 from me too....not forgetting that the Microsoft Surface is going to have a big impact on market share....wouldn't it be nice to have a MM version for the surface and windows phone 8 available on the day of launch and just think how easy it will be to convert from one to the other ;)

I too would like to see a windows phone app.I plan on getting a WP8 phone when released, hopefully end of next month. Right now it looks like it will be a Nokia 920....

Again I do hope there will be a MyMovies app on WP8....

Anyway, the new Microsoft Surface will be available in a Pro version as well, with Windows 8 Pro on board. That means you will be able to use "regular" Windows software on it.
