I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this but I think the problem is that the question I am about to ask covers mutiple possible areas. So here goes.
I currently have MyMovies running on WHS (Windows 2003 version) with DVDs ripped to ISO images which are held on a Windows share. Each DVD has it's own folder within the share and this contains the artwork which has been downloaded by MyMovies. The ISO images were created by
AnyDVD*. In the various rooms in the house there are EVA8000s connected via CAT5 to the server and can see the ISO images. This solution has served well BUT there are a couple of limitations (nothing to do with MyMovies), which are:
1) The UI on the EVA devices is a bit naff (IMHO!)
2) THe EVA8000 devices can't cope with HD content of 1080i or above. This is an issue to me because I have a growing collection of home movies which are 1080i.
So I think the time has come to replace the EVAs with something else. I am toying with the idea of loading XBMC onto some RasperryPi devices and using these to access my collection of DVDs,Home Moves, Photos and Music.
I believe it is possible to add a scraper to the XMBC environment which uses the MM API to access information on the MyMovie collection - is this correct? I already paid for this API so don;t need to buy it again.
My main question is regarding how XBMC uses the API to locate the source of the ISO. When setting up the EVA devices I pointed to the WHS shares containing the ISOs so in this respect, once MyMovies had generated the artwork it's job was done. However, if XBMC talks to the MyMoviesdatabase using the MM API how does it locate the path of the ISO? Is this held in the MyMovies database?
I hope the questions make sense and I hope someone can answer them!
Regards
Dave
