Change: Do not include series/box container title in Media Center option deprecated, is now always true.

I currently use this function to group movie series together. For example, I have all six Star Wars movies grouped under "Episode IV: A New Hope" so that when browsing the main movie list, there is only one entry for Star Wars, essentially creating a faux box-set. From there I can click on the "holding title" and show all six movies displayed. Removing this functionality would make A New Hope disappear from the series. This would also affect every movie series I own which is done in this manner, of which there are many. (And no, I do not contribute titles back to the webservice that have been grouped in such a manner.)

I have not installed any 4.03 pre-releases yet, so at the moment this feature deprecation doesn't affect me, but if it's in the next full release it most certainly will. Set the default option to true if you must, but please allow me the option to choose.

That function makes the box set itself not appear along with the list of child titles when opening the holding title in WMC. There is no need for the holding title to appear in that list really, unless there is a disc or something that is not part of one of the child profiles. I think I get what you doing, but that's not really the way box sets are intended to be handled.

Anyway, this is already added back in an internal build we are testing.

I understand MM's intentions, but sometimes the official way is not always preferred. And I make certain that any such non-standard modifications are always local to my own database and never contributed back.

Basically, I make the series all appear as a box set under the first title, and when doing so, that title also needs to be seen with the child titles in order to select it for playing. IMO this method makes for a cleaner, leaner, more organized, and more aesthetically pleasing experience, and until now, it has always been possible. I'm not asking for it to be made the default experience for everyone, only that it be possible to continue doing so. But if the feature's been added back in, then it's a non-issue.

As always, thanks for the quick response. Laughing

I second request this to be optional please!!!

Hi bairman

Is good to know I’m not the only one that make this to keep the index organized though I take a different approach;

1-add all the movies from a collection (Harry Potter)

2-create a Local Title named with the collection (Harry Potter Collection, Harry Potter Box Set, Harry Potter Anthology, ect...)

3-use my own custom made or custom Google’t Cover for the Local Title

4-add all the movies into it them check "do not include this Title as part of the box set"

I think we both have similar outcome: Click on 1 Title >>>> them all other Titles will show under it.

My library is already 500+ and I'm not even done backing up all my DVD's, this save me a lot of Scrolling Up/Down

I also understand is not the way is meant to be but it is the best way for me and maybe others.

The option is added back but is now named differently, so that it is not a "Hide holding title", but "Include Box Set Container".

This also means that it will default to NOT contain the holding title, but you can configure it to.

sounds like you add box sets in the typical manner to me and that the changes won't effect you.

I don't deal with boxsets in either of the ways described and the changes won't effect my collection but I do agree that there should be an option to pick how boxsets are dealt with just because I think the more ways the user can customise things the better.

my advice is given to help, my advice might not always be the best solution but is given to the best of my knowledge, my advice is not always approved by MyMovies and often isn't, if my advice ever suggests changing in any way a title from what is contributed on the webservice please insure no invalid changes are contributed, please read the following guides Disc Title Contribution Guide, Contribution Introduction, TV Series Contribution Guide
