I recently began to rip my regular DVD's into Video TS folder format using My Movies. When I go to play the movies through WMC they often just play the FBI warning or whatever is the first file but does not continue and hangs there. I obviously have my HD-DVDS and Blu Rays ripped in .ISO format and they play perfectly through WMC and launch ARC Softs TMT3 with no issues. When I use ARC Soft TMT3 outside of WMC to play the TS Folder structure files they play fine. Any idea why my TS folder format DVD's are not playing through WMC? I currently am using Windows Home Server 2011 as my server with My Movies for WHS 2.10 and all my clients are updated with the latest client My Movies software 4.02. Love the software but I am frustrated I can't get me TS format DVD's to play correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

well can media centre play those video_Ts folders itself?
try outside mm
all mm does is send the order to the media centre.

Technically MM does not play anything it is simply passing the files/folders/discs whatever it may be to the players on your device be it WMCE or a configured external player. Try direct from the player if that doesn't work your issue is not MM realted but something in your system/setup.

I tried launching from within Media Center and have the same issue. When I use TMT3 on its own the files play fine. I did use MM to rip the DVD's. It is like WMC only plays the first file in the folder and doesn't move to the other files?

Is there a way to make TMT3 the default player for WMC for all file formats? I notice TMT3 only launches when I play my Blu Ray and HD-DVD rips through media center.

MM CM/Tools/Options/External Players here you should be able to select TMT3 as the player for Video TS. You need 1250 points or more to enable this option.

Thanks Joe, that seemed to fix my issue for the most part. TMT3 now launches and plays the TS Folder rips perfectly. The only issue I have run into is when I am using MM Ipad as my WMC remote. When I select the Menu button or hit the button to go back to WMC it goes to the TMT3 splash screen and hangs there. I can live with that though. If anyone has any advice on a fix for the hanging TMT splash screen let me know. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Good to hear you got it working.
Not too sure if this will help, since I don't have an Ipad but when I use the external player (in my case PowerDVD or MPC) via MM, at the end of the movie or if I hit stop etc, it will not return to WMC using the back button! I guess the external player has full control and does not understand/respond to the back button.I have to hit the close button on the remote, this exits the external player, displays the desktop briefly then returns to WMC. Not a perfect WAF solution, I'm trying to set up MPC to accept the remote back button as an Exit command but so far its work in progress.

I seem to have the same problem. WMC only plays the FBI warning and hangs. The Video_TS folder plays fine using external players. Would like to keep using the default player if possible.

This is typically due to problems with graphics drivers or codecs through installed DVD decoders that have taken over Windows' default.

How is the VIDEO_TS folders copied, just to rule them out?

Thanks Brian. After doing some Google search I found similar problems with folks using 3TB drives just like I am. To test I copied the Video_TS folder to the local HD. Sure enough issue solved - movie plays past FBI warning. Problem is how do i solve this and use my 3TB drive. Researching some more...if anyone has solutions please post.

That sounds like a strange thing.

If you find some details, I would love if you would post it here.

From what I've found so far there is a partition table difference of MBR vs GUID. It seems as though 3TB drives need to be have the GUID Partition Table(GPT) to read >2 TB. Unfortunately i couldn't test this because my 3TB drive is removable and Win7 will not convert removable drives to GUID.

Yes, lots of people with 3TB drive issues. What about partitioning the drive into 2 x 1.5TB partitions. Win7 should do that (Clock "Start", right click "Computer", select "Manage" then "Disk Management"...).

Sure you would then "see" 2 drives but MM will handle that OK and you might avoid the 3TB issues.

Yep will try and partition. The 3TB drive probably has something to do with Folder Monitoring not working as well.

If users with 3TB issues post what problems they see here, we can create a KB article.

I can confirm that Folder Monitoring does not work on the 3TB drive. I added movies to a 1TB, 2TB and a 3TB - Folder Monitoring worked on the 1TB and 2TB but not on the 3TB. So you can add Folder Monitoring and playback to the list of possible 3TB issues.
