When I have made changes on my iphone and open my collection management it detects the changes and asks me if I would like to sync. I click on yes and it performs the checking process then brings up the list of titles that are to be added or changed.

I then click on "Synchronize" and after a few moments it comes back with "The webservice did not respond, Check your internet connection, or try again later."

If I do a manual sync it works fine. It is only the automatic sync that this happens with.

I have attached a copy of the log(s).

You have a title that have an invalid date set to 2038 - likely a watched date.

This is what creates the problem.

Can you on your iPad try to filter and see if you have something that could have such date set?

It appears to be lent due date values that are very high.

Did you set these yourself?

I have never set up a "Lent" option.

How can I check which title has the invalid "Watched" Date?

I added some titles in my wish list which have not been released (Nor announced) on blu-ray with future dates (01/01/2020) since I did not have a viable release date for them. Could this be a problem?

Carl.

I think I may have found another problem that might be causing this?

I have many of my Movies / TV SHows linked as "Online" to removable "Archive" hard drives. These drives at the time they were connected to the computer were for instance "A:\" with the link to the actual file on that drive.

Once the drive has been removed then I guess MM is no longer seeing the movie as "Online" but instead as missing.

I think this is causing a lot of my sync issues. It will take some time for me to go through all of those "Archived" movies to change them to "Offline" and then I will be able to test this more thoroughly.

Carl.

Ok so I have gone through and changed all the links that were linking to non existent files (On removable hard drives).

I have changed all the release dates I had that were set in the future to a past date instead.

I have filtered on Watched on both the iPhone and the computer. the computer does not give me any "Watched Dates" as far as I can tell and the iphone only displays today's date as the newest "watched Date" when I sort by "watched". So I am not sure how to go about finding this "2038" date you are speaking of and I am still getting this "Webservice Did not Respond as expected" issue.

Also something else to note. When I filter on "Watched" in CM I get 101 results. When I filter on my iphone I get 110 results. However after going through them the difference are the titles I had marked as watched on the iphone since the last time I synched successfully.

So any ideas on what I can check for next?

I have attached a fresh copy of the logs in case that helps. (I had to zip one of them as I kept getting an error trying to upload it. Probably it is bigger than allowed by the server)

Carl.

Any other suggestions on this?

It is getting worse. Now it is "Strongly suggesting" that I synchronize before adding any more titles.

But I still can't perform an automatic sync.

Please see the updated logs attached and let me know how I can proceed.

I have also attached another Zip file (My Movies Client Logs.zip) which is from a client workstation on which I had the same error. These logs are much smaller so I am hoping it will be easier for someone to see the problem.

Carl

Is there somewhere else I should be asking about support on this? I would like to get some answers or at least some suggestions as to what I should be trying to fix this issue.

Hi Carl have never had this problem myself but on the basis of what Brian has said about the problem maybe being due to a future release date how exactly have you searched for the future release dates? you could do this by setting a filter in cm or by sorting in wmc, if you have any doubt as to whether you may have still missed correcting a future date you could send me your complete xml and I will have a check for you. I will pm you my email address if you want to explore this option.

my advice is given to help, my advice might not always be the best solution but is given to the best of my knowledge, my advice is not always approved by MyMovies and often isn't, if my advice ever suggests changing in any way a title from what is contributed on the webservice please insure no invalid changes are contributed, please read the following guides Disc Title Contribution Guide, Contribution Introduction, TV Series Contribution Guide

I did a sort in MC by release date and the newest ones that come up seem to be current and correct.

I could not find an option to filter on release date in CM only on production date.

I am not sure where to find the xml file. It is not in the same place as the log files.

Once you tell me where to find the XML file I will send you that and maybe you can see what is going on with it.

The other thing that was mentioned was the lent date. But I have never set up any lent titles and again there doesn't seem to be a way to filter or search on those.

Carl.

Hi Carl, the .xml you sent me is not the one required. I need you to open cm goto file -> export -> xml file that is the file I will need.

ok had a look at your .xml as far as having future release dates in your collection you still do have a few and actually had I looked at it a few days ago you would have had even more as you had a number of release dates for 10th of july 2012 anyway below are the titles which still have future release dates.

coll no.----original title------------------release date

1174--------Prometheus---------------------01/10/2012
428----------The Devil's Advocate-----------18/09/2012
252----------Bound---------------------------07/08/2012

Hmm Those ones are actually valid. And I am pretty sure it pulled them from the service. If that was the problem then everyone would be having it.

I seem to remember someone saying something about a rental return date set to 2038 or something like that?

Carl.

with regard to the return date that is personal data and would not be downloaded from the webservice and if you say you have not used this function I don't see how that is possible unless you may have accidently changed one, unfortunately I can't check that as that information is not exported into the .xml

Ok I just re-read Brian's post. and he thought it might be a watched date. He somehow picked that up from the logs I posted. Any idea how I can search on that. I Didn't even think that "Watched Date" even showed up in the collection management? only on the iPHone in Collection management I can only see a check box for watched in collection management.

I am currently going through all the "Watched" titles to see if there are any future dates. But I don't think so. Accidentally getting from 2012 to 2038 on the selection wheel would be quite difficult.

Carl.

Ok. I filtered on "Watched" on my iphone and went through all the dates and there weren't any future dates in them at all.

Carl.
