Hi Brian,

Just wondering if you had any plans to support the new DVDFab player as an external player in MyMovies.

It's free for ISO and files, and there is a Mac version which means we might get a version of MyMovies for Mac that supports playback?

Contrary to the existing Mac Bluray Player, it supports full BD menus.

Can't post a link as it's considered spam, but it's easy enough to find.

I'm about to try both versions, I'll let you know how they work (they are early beta though).

Hi
This looks real interesting and I'm looking forward to your findings. Do you know if it intergrates into MCE as per PowerDVD/TMT, or if they have plans to add this feature.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to integrate into MCE at all like PDVD or TMT, so it doesn't look like an integration into MyMovies (PC) makes much sense at this stage.

The best use I find for the PC version is to play bluray ISOs from a Windows VM on the Mac. TMT and PDVD play DVDs but fail to play Blurays in a VM, probably because of HDCP limitations, but the DVD Fab player works fine even in a VM, which is very useful.

However if there was a way to use the Mac Player to play movies on the Mac, it could be a nice addition to MyMovies on the Mac.

I hope you didn't get the idea that posting a link in that situation would be considered spam from reading a post I created recently about spam on the forum, cause that kind of link certainly wasn't what I was referring to and am sure it would be very acceptable.

No worries, I only got the idea because when I put a link in the post the forum refused it saying it didn't need my spam:)

So I deleted the link before posting.

Oh right! maybe the admin are tightening this down, there has been a lot of spam on here recently, links to websites selling baby products and all sorts, like I say I would have thought a link in that situation would have been fine as its actually there to help people on the forum, but if it won't let you then thats that. Just wanted to check you didn't get that opinion from reading my post. Laughing

H'm interesting. Your link does not display in normal mode but I can see it in the quote in edit mode on the reply. Joking aside its a bit sad to have to loose this feature in an effort to defeat spam!

It would be if that was the case, I'm really not sure if anything has actually been changed though, the link I created seemed to create without any problems, I don't quite know what you mean by not displaying in normal mode, when I click the link it opens as expected.

Are you sure your clicking on the Link. I have no trouble with clicking it and being taken straight to the thread that James is referring too.

@Manni

It would be nice if the DVDFab Player would integrate into WMC. Which would then give user's a choice of 3 player capable of Blu iso play back.

Hi Carl,

Thanks, but the forum software didn't allow me to post the link, so maybe the rules have been tightened a bit too much, or do not take into account the number of posts?

I wasn't offended by the way, I understand it could be seen as spamming, even if I'm not a spammer:).

Really a google search will provide the answer easily, so not a problem at all.

Yes, it would be but it looks like it's very early days in the life of this player, so it might be a while before that is implemented by the developper.

When/if that happens we'll ask Brian to have a look at it... Until then, there is not much MyMovies can do other than launching a player which doesn't integrate into MCE, which is a step down compared to TMT/PDVD.

My fault, I started this thread too early :)

Yes it's early days for the player, I have tried it, seems rather plain for now but you never know the developers might integrated a better front end into it, we will have to wait and see.

If anyone has any imput or influence now might be the right time to give the developers at DVDFAB some encouragement. For myself I would like to see not just an integration into MCE but a complete takeover! I find it very frustrating that having had to purchase 3rd party software (PowerDVD in my case) to play Bluray I am not able to use all its other capabilities from within MCE. MM certainly helps if you have 1250 points and set PowerDVD as an external player for additional formats, but even then PowerDVD and I believe TMT use a different (the external) GUI, so you have effectively three different players, four if like me you also have Tunerfree MCE which utilises the flash player. One player really ought to be enough. DVDfab please give it a go!

P.S
mrwonker your link works just fine, sorry I was expecting to see a www.etc.? type link string (as displayed in the quote on the reply editor) the word "link" was just too subtle for me. Embarassed

I think the potential for adding this lies on the Mac side, where it is the first actual BD player.

I do not see it as a resonable alternative on Windows.
