After recently moving to WHS and having a few headaches along the way I thought I would post a summary of the steps needed to get it working right for extenders.
This is condensed from information in various threads.
Movie format used in this guide is DVR-MS.
Step 1. Figure out where you will be storing the movies. I created a share called MyMovies. You can create a subfolder in the movies share and it might solve a lot of headaches. Step 2. Install the WHS connector software on the VMC machine. Step 3. -Open the WHS Console -Click on settings -Select the Windows Media Center option -Give the share you created Full or Read access depending on your preference. -Reboot the VMC computer -If this is not done, you will get an error in MM saying that the file cannot be found Step 4. -RDP or go to the desktop of the WHS server -Open Windows Explorer -Expand My Computer -Click on Data(D:) -Expand MyMovies -Right Click on FileStorage -Select "Sharing and Security" -Click Permissions -Click Add -Type Everyone, then click OK --edit, for the security minded type the following WHSSERVERNAME\MC-HTPCNAME, ie if your WHS is names FAMILYSERV and the MCE PC is named FAMILYMCE it would be FAMILYSERV\MC-FAMILYMCE -Check at least Read, and Full Control and Change if you want -Click OK This will fix the missing cover art on the extender Step 5. Copy your content to the share and enjoy!

Thanks, this solved my issue with two of three extenders. On my main extender I now have a situation where on My Mvies main screen (where all the movies are displayed for the first time) show as individual line items with no icons or graphics attached . Obviously I have a setting that is wrong. Having viewed all the Forum notes and gone through the various "options" buttons multiple times I still cannot find the right mainscreen so that all the graphics once again appear. WHS has been recycled along with all the extenders but I still end up with this one extender only showing the movie title with no graphics. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I had to do some additional steps to get video playing on the extender. I RDP'd into the Home Server and then went into the "Sharing & Security" setting of the share that has the movie files. In that setting page I made sure that both "Anonymous Users" and "Everyone" has read access to that share. Once I did that, everything works great.

You simply need to enable the Guest account on the WHS.
