Hi all, My Movies for Windows Home Server have been released in a 1.02 version as a pre-release. It labelled build 4, but is first public available pre release of 1.02. The change log below: Added: Automatic database backup feature. Automatically runs backup during the night with the internal you choose, and lets you choose how many backups to keep. Added: Ability to use non WHS based shares and part of a share for copy target and monitoring. Added: Support for Flac lossless music codec for Music Disc Copier.Added: Option to reject disc if no meta-data is found for Movie Disc Copier. This allows you to use a client to contribute disc id's for unknown discs, and then re-insert the disc to be copied with proper meta-data. Added: Ability for movie disc copier to copy to Media Center extender compatible MPEG2 format, either as only file, or as combination of VIDEO_TS folder structure and MPEG2 file.Change: Now asks to set services to manual startup when you stop them, to awoid them from restarting after a reboot. Fix: Runs optimize and clean of unused covers, photos and temp files before running a backup. Fix: Movie disc can some times be rejected if it has been previously copied, even though the file no longer exists. Fix: Notifications can pop up again and again. Notifications is now removed after a specific time period, depending on their importance. Fix: Movie disc copier can fail to copy discs if the disc name in the meta-data contains special characters. Fix: Firewall configuration issues can occur on some newer version HP Home Servers. Fix: SQL Server install could error out if firewall configuration fails. Fix: Clean photos on database backup Fix: Percentage only goes to 99 percent and not 100 until the task is fully complete Regards, Brian

Wow, FLAC support AND being able to rip to an extender friendly format. Oh, and I see you even thought of being able to rip to BOTH Folder and MPEG-2 simultaneously - brilliant! I think now is a great time for me to have become interested in this add-in. Thanks!

Well uninstalled and installed new version without a hitch. Tried disk copy to mpeg format, it seem to be working 1st it copied dvd to video-ts folder on HP-WHS and then it looked it started creating the mpeg file and then it just stopped. I left it running all night as too didnt know how long it would take. In the morning still stopped in the same place. I will try again with a different dvd and see what happens. Just a heads up. Thanks for a great program Edit: Well tried another dvd and it happened again. The Disk Copier gets to 70%, creates the mpeg file in the share and then just stops. This is the only thing the log shows. 11/15/2008 8:21:28 AM - WHS.DiscCopier.MainTabUserControl.UnhandledExceptionHandler - Object reference not set to an instance of an object. - at System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem.UpdateSubItems(Int32 index, Int32 oldCount) at System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem.ListViewSubItem.set_Text(String value) at Microsoft.HomeServer.HomeServerConsoleTab.MyMoviesDiscCopier.MainTabUserControl.tmrUpdateList_Elapsed(Object sender, ElapsedEventArgs e) in C:\Users\Brian\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\My Movies for Windows Home Server\My Movies Disc Copier\MainTabUserControl.vb ine 465

Can someone explain the Video TS / MPG2 file functionality? I know you can't stream a regular ripped Video TS folder to an extender. MPG2 files are fine, but you lose subtitle support unless they are encoded on to the video. Does ripping it as a Video TS folder with an MPG2 file give any added functionality? Subtitles? Menus? Audio Tracks?

Nice job, was very pleased to hear that: "Ability to use non WHS based shares and part of a share for copy target and monitoring" ... but i'm getting a error when trying to use my "outside WHS share":
My movies is placed on a NAS, and the only share on that NAS is "Film" ... and when i'm trying to use that share in MyMovies I get: "you must select a share or a path below a share".
Maybe at little "beta" bug ;-) ?
By the way Brian ... nice job with this AddIn .. and MyMovies in general. Donation is on the way.
Best regards
Helge

The exception in the exception log is unrelated - it could sound like there is some issue on the transcode process. The log (not the exception log) should show quite a bit - can I get you to clear the log, reproduce the error, and post the log?

MPG2 files are fine, but you lose subtitle support unless they are encoded on to the video. Does ripping it as a Video TS folder with an MPG2 file give any added functionality? Subtitles? Menus? Audio Tracks? You have understood it perfectly - the VIDEO_TS folders are not supported on the extenders, therefore creating an MPEG-2 file is better for many people. It still looses the menu, and the subtitles - and only one audio track is copied - you can via. the settings set preferences on which. For English speaking users, or French or German users who dubb the audio, the loss of subtitles is not an issue, while it certainly is in many other countries. These countries that requires subtitles loose out, and they still do on this approch. We will be looking at options of encoding the subtitles into the video stream, but I can't say what the result will be yet. Fact is that for 80% of all users, the loss of subtitles is not an issue, and therefore we preferred adding the feature for them over not having it. The main benefit here is that it all happens automatically, and the user does not need to have knowledge on copy processes.

I too have the 70% hanging problem. Inserted DVD, copy proceeds and after about 20 minutes it is stuck on 70% complete. Left it for 24 hours and same situation. Is there a log file on my WHS which I should post?

This log is odd - it does not even go to the transcoding process. Is it configured for MPEG-2 only, or VIDEO_TS and MPEG-2? What if you change it to the other option?

I'm in Portugal, where the subtitle support is a must (99% of foreign movies here are subtitle - only exception are the children movies). Is there a way of defaulting the ripper to a certain audio / subtitle combination?

The option was MPEG-2 only. The ISO option works fine. I will try the Video_TS and MPEG-2 option and post log if that doesnt work either.
Thanks

Is there a way of defaulting the ripper to a certain audio / subtitle combination? There is not, as written elsewhere, there is no subtitle support on this approch. There might be later on, but not as it is now.

This is a great feature - but I wonder if it is possible to have AnyDVD process a VIDEO_TS folder that already exists - rather than just when a DVD is inserted? I have a large library of films stored as VIDEO_TS and some as .mkv - if this new feature could process these to extender friendly format (and delete the original) this would be a perfect solution for my needs. Is this possible for a future version?

You do not need AnyDVD for a VIDEO_TS folder that have already been copied.
It would only be possible to process the VIDEO_TS folders.

I have been unable to reproduce the 70% issue. But, I have a release here with more logging. Can I get any of you having this issue to write me at brian@binnerup.dk? We will then try this release to locate the issue before the next PR.

Is this possible for a future version? See this thread for a script to do this right now, which does not require WHS but does require Videoredo: http://www.mymovies.dk/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=4544-Dan
