The 203 has port 436 closed until your broadcast/send it the message "NOTIFY OREMOTE LOGIN" on UDP port 7624. You can do this through a broadcast (255.255.255.255), local domain broadcast or directly to it's IP address. It will respond with UDP message "UDP-203_OPPO UDP-203 REPORT ADDRESS TO OREMOTE: 192.168.0.2:19999" (it'll have it's actual IP address). From then on you'll see broadcast messages on UDP 7624 from it containing its name & IP address and another incorrect port number (23).

From this point on you can talk to it on port 436. Personally I find it much easier to connect to an NFS share as it does not require a user/password. My only issue is that the command to map a share takes 40 seconds in my test app, whereas the iPhone app does it instantly. Haven't figured out why that is yet. Other than that I have it starting a Blu-ray folder rip no problem.

If anyone has any info on .iso (instead of folder) playback on the 203 I'd be interested to hear more.

Did this ever go anywhere?

The last post is from July. I have an Oppo 205 which is jailbroken and I'd love to be able to use MyMovies to browse my collection on a PC with Windows Media Center then when I press "Play" have it play on the Oppo. I could then use my regular remote control to control the Oppo, but getting the movie to play on the Oppo from MyMovies is the big thing I'd like to see happen.

Is there any chance this could work?

Thanks,

It is not currently going anywhere, no - we do not have the player available, and therefore cannot make the corrections needed to make it work.

It works with the 103 model.

How does it work on the 103?

Can I browse MM for WMC on my PC and select a movie to play and have it play on the Oppo 103 or is it like the Dune implementation where I'd access MM from the Oppo somehow and have to use the Oppo remote to browse and select my movie I wish to watch?

Thanks,

With the Dune implementation one option is to browse my movie collection on the screen and start movies from there, but I hardly not use that at all. I use My Movies app in Iphone and Ipad to select a movie and press the play button. Then I get an option to play the move on my Dune (HD Max) player. It can take a little while before the movie starts as it has to wake up the right HDD on my server. Most of my movies are stored as BDMV and then it takes a little time to load, just as when you put a disc in a BD-player. MKV starts faster.

It would be great if it was possible to do the same thing with a Oppo player, but I don't now if they can play BDMV or BD-ISO? (maybe with jailbreak?)

I just read the changelog for My Movies 5.25 Pre Release 1 and found one very interesting line there:

Change: The Oppo bridge functonality was updated to use a different communication protocol for remote control, with better power state feedback. This also includes experimental support for remote playback.

It would be great if someone with an Oppo could try this.

Full changelog can be found here: https://www.mymovies.dk/download/windows/changelog-pre-release.aspx

I will try to finalize the bridge code for the Oppo, as it then can serve as an example, should anyone find interest in doing a DLL plug-in for other devices.

Do any of you have the Oppo players, and if so, do you have any with a custom firmware that can play BDMV folders or ISO files?

Hi Brian,

I've received today my Oppo 203 clone and I'm trying to set-up my movies to control it.

Is there some documentation somewhere to explain how to do this?

I've added an Oppo bridge device in the Remote settings in Collection Manager, but what do you do from that point?

Ideally I'd want to be able to control the playback of titles started in the iPad using the Oppo to play my network backups.

Thanks!

Just to say that after setting the Oppo bridge in CM remote settings, I did get my MyMovies collection on the Oppo network menu, with all my categories, genres etc which was great.

Main downside is that all the titles appear as mkvs, even those that are BD Folders or ISOs, and as a result they don't play (note that this is a clone that does play BD Folders and ISOs). [EDIT: I think this is because I haven't updated the metadata after I did a global change of the paths, I'll regenerate all the metadata and will update].

Please let me know if you'd like me to create a new thread to discuss this, as I realize that although the subject has been discussed before (that's how I found it) it's kind of off topic.

What I'd like to know is if there is a way to launch playback from the iPad MyMovies app, with or without the HTPC powered on (preferably without).

When I try to add a bridge device in the remote control settings of the iPad app itself, it's only accepted if I use the following settings:

IP address of the MyMovies HTPC, default port

But then it can't control the Oppo 203.

Please could anyone provided information on adding the Oppo as a bridge device in the iPad app (provided this is supposed to work with the Oppo 203)?

I can't find any in the wiki or in a search.

The dune used to work fine when added as a bridge device, so it's an issue specific to the Oppo (I think).

Thanks.

Hi Emmanuel,

This is a remote play functionality only - it will not give you any sort of browsing on the Oppo - any sort of browsing you get is entire on the Oppo itself.

What this will do is give you remote control options from mobile devices, and ability to play to the Oppo device.

However, it has been confirmed to function with the 103 model only at this point.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that’s what I was expecting. I’d rather select the movie I want to play on the app and launch playback on the 203 (as I used to do with the Dune) than browse on the Oppo itself (though it’s great to have this working right now).

Any plan to get it working with the 203? Please let me know if I can help with beta testing for you.

Also any chance to get a new 5.25 pre release soon? The lack of filters is quite a big Obstacle to keeping it installed at the moment.

Also it looks like when using the browser from the Oppo the titles are filtered and only .mkv are shown. No ISOs, no BD Folders. Is this because of the limitation of the the original Oppo? If that's the case, any way to lift these restrictions so that Oppo clones or modified players able to play ISOs or BD folders can do so?

Thanks!

I finally had the time to read the whole thread, which provided a lot of info, especially around page 3. Sorry everyone for lagging behind, I had only read a few pages back and thought the rest of the thread was on the egreat.

Brian, if the only thing you are missing to finish the Oppo 203 implementation is a player, and if Teamviewer in the same timezone isn't enough, I can send you mine so you can test and implement. Please get in touch if that would help.

Thanks, I've done a lot of work with Brian on the Oppo 203 bridge a few weeks ago, using my Oppo 203 clone.

We had folders remote playback working (DVD, BD and UHD BD), but unfortunately files (ISOs, MKVs) were a no go, and as they are not supported with Oppo's own app it looks like it's a limitation of the model.

Remote control also isn't working yet. I can use iRule on my iPad/iPhone for remote control once the movie has started, so that's not a problem for me. Luckily I've ripped all my disc as folders, so the lack of individual files support isn't a big problem either, except for 3D BD ISos as converting them to folders uses twice as much space. My 3D BD collection isn't growing fast, so not really an issue either for me.

Brian was busy on other things but I'm happy to resume when/if he wishes to.

As it is, it's not ready for prime time, but it's promising :)

I'll let Brian comment further if he wishes to.

This some more progress compare to my testing. Nice!

I wonder if it wasn't more fitting to move the oppo discussion to the "OPPO in 5.25 PR1" thread, rather the egreat one here. I'll copy your post into the other thread. Hope that's OK.
