I'm trying to contribute a Boxset.
The moderator asked to contribute including photos as proof, because of the description of the back cover.
How do I add these photos?

I tried to contribute a box set last night but this was rejected due to "inconsistent or missing disc Ids". As I don't have a DVD drive attached to my computer, I'm not able to enter or verify disc IDs. Does this mean I cannot contribute titles?

It really isn't easy to contribute this data - and it's a very steep learning curve - it took me about an hour to put this one together! I don't want to be frustrated so early in the relationship!

If you use the Windows software, you can use the box set creation guide in the latest pre release version - where it can copy the discs from parent to children - this means you do not need a drive.

But otherwise, yes, you cannot contribute this, because the child titles must have disc ids that matches the parent.

Okay, thanks. I'll try this tonight, but I tried the box set creation guide for another box set (with 20 children), and it crashed on me, which was also frustrating! It's a shame, as I have so many box sets which only have the parent currently in the database, and I'd like to be able to contribute all the children, but it's a very slow process.

Incidentally, what would be the procedure if a box set has additional children that aren't already included? For example, one of the children in the Eric Rohmer collection (Barcode 5027035018324) should actually be two children - "The Tree, the Mayor and the Mediatheque / Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle" has been included as a single child, but this is two separate films.

If a box set has made it past approvals with an error like that you would need to report it for a moderator to take a look at. Assuming they verify the error the mod would either have to revert the title back to before it was made a box set or make some corrections and add an additional (probably mostly blank) child title to the box set that you could then complete as users cannot add additional childs to a set that already exists.

I am trying to contribute some boxsets which are not listed as boxsets yet. But I am not sure about some cases, so I hope you can help me with these questions:

1. Do different cuts of a movie count as one title entry, even if they are on two spearate discs? On a regular release of a single movie I would see this as a bonus feature. Because otherwise every DVD with an optional Director's Cut would count as a boxset. But I am not sure if I got this right.

Example: In the Zombie Survival Set digipack there are 6 DVDs. Movie 1 - Director's Cut, Movie 1 - Extended Cut, Movie 2, Movie 3, Movie 4 and a bonus disc. I read how to deal with bonus discs, but how should I handle the two different versions of movie 1? 2 Disc entries with the same IMDB number?

2. Sometimes the single disc Blu-ray version of a movie contains a bonus film, but its title isn't even mentioned on the cover. Does it still count as a boxset? And if so, how should I name the boxset container?

Example: On the back of Stonados "bonus film" is listed as a bonus feature, but no title is mentioned there. When I start the Blu-ray two movies can be started from the main menu: Stonados and Supercollider. Should I treat this like a regular boxset with two movies? Should I call the boxset container just "Stonados" because that's written on the cover?

Thank you for any help!

A box set is multiple different movies, not cuts of the same movie, as stated in guidelines.

It doesn't matter how movies are packaged or the discs they are on, two or more different movies is a box set even if on one disc in one case, and multiple cuts of the same movie is still a single item regardless of packaging or discs.

In the case of actual box set where there are multiple different movies and some of those movies have multiple cuts the multiple cuts of the one movie are one item, just as they would be for a standalone.

This depends on what you mean by 'bonus film' note as a general rule special features and featurettes, making of's etc. don't count. To count as a box set the additional movie must be a fully released movie in its own right. In some rare cases a full movie may be listed or presented as a special feature or bonus item, generally these would be accepted as box sets provided the so called bonus is a fully released movie in its own right.

If an item really contains an extra valid movie but with no mention of it on the cover that would be problematic to handle and would require special consideration, technically if it contains two different movies it is valid as a box set but if there is no way to verify that from the covers then if will be difficult to get it accepted as such. Contributing it as a box set will almost certainly get rejected due to it appearing to be invalid. It would likely be easiest to contribute such an item as a single title for the item on the cover though if suitable proof could be provided it might be possible to get it accepted as a box set via corresponding with a moderator. Regardless titling would follow guidelines i.e. the cover.

Thank you very much for the explanation. The bonus film indeed is a fully released movie, but I understand the problem with verification. It might work to add a screenshot of the disc menu when I try to submit it as a boxset, but if it won't get accepted I will stick with the single title.
