The side bar which normally has the titles exists but is not blank/greyd out so can only get titles from the top window and the side bar icons are also missing

Is this the pre-release?
If so, which one?
It would help the developers if you clear the debug log, turn on debugging, exit the program and then start it up again, so that the log will accumulate what is happening when the software draws the various window elements. Then turn off debugging and attach the log to your next post for the developers to examine. I think that will help guide them to the source of your problem.
Just in case you haven't attached a file to a post in this forum before, be aware you have to submit your post first. Only then can you add the attachment. It's a limitation of the forum software. (There's a mention of it under the post editing form, but it's small print and some people don't see it.)
