Recently, there been a number of United States titles being incorrectly entered into the database as being Canadian titles. I submitted incorrect data reports for a number of these and while one was addressed and corrected, I was told with regards to the others that “We generally approve US titles in Canada, because they are sold there as well”. Just because a US title is being sold in Canada does not make it a Canadian release. Using that logic, being I can purchase a number of European or Asian titles from various United States sellers (both online and in brick and mortar locations), does that make them United States titles?
Here are a few stats from my collection to show that the Canadian listings are being done more arbitrarily (and recently) rather than generally.
Kino Lorber: 786 listed correctly as United States 5 listed incorrectly as Canada
Criterion: 371 listed correctly as United States 4 listed incorrectly as Canada (all from April 2024)
Shout Factory: 527 listed correctly as United States 1 listed incorrectly as Canada (from May 2024)
There are other cases too but My Movies doesn’t have studios listed for said titles making using a quick filter impossible.
Some of the things I like about My Movies (and why I’ve been using it for many years) is the accuracy and consistency of the information and the quick response when incorrect information is reported.

There are titles made for sale in both the USA and Canada, as such those titles are valid for contribution in both the USA and Canada.
However items made exclusively for sale in just the USA or just in Canada should only be listed under those countries even if commonly imported across borders. A USA exclusive release should not be accepted under Canada, it lacks the Canadian rating requirements for one thing however commonly it might be sold there.
Unfortunately users don't always follow the rules or understand.
If you find a USA exclusive item submitted under Canada you would be correct to report it as incorrect. Same for a Canadian exclusive submitted under USA. Though do note there are dual releases for both valid for both as well.

This seems like a change in policy on My My Movies part. I don’t think that Kino, Criterion, etc have all suddenly started making their titles available in Canada for the first time. Is it that a Canadian user has been submitting these titles first and that is dictating where the disc is originating from?

I ‘m wondering why this just started happening within the past few weeks….10 titles from Kino, Criterion and Shout Factory listed as from Canada since April and 1,684 of their titles prior to that being listed as United States.

In details - the thing here is that you are considering it as though the title is added for Canada, and therefore not added for United States. That is not the case - the title is perfectly valid for United States as it have always been, but it is also valid for Canada, so it can exist in both countries. A title that does not exist should be reported missing, or be created and contributed - that is how it have always been - the only thing here is that some users choose not to report the titles missing if they are found in another country, and that may be why you are not seeing them. So, you can report them missing for United States just as you can if the titles did not exist at all. What you are asking here is that we change the Canadian titles, which we consider valid to US - then Canadian customers will not get a result when searching for them. The fact that the titles exist in Canada is totally unrelated to them not existing in United States. So - report the titles in question as missing. Thank you very much.
I misunderstood the "We generally approve US titles in Canada, because they are sold there as well" reply to my incorrect data report as meaning that I should re-submit the title as being available in the United States as well.
