Version : MyMovies 5.40.0.100
Operating System : Windows Server 2016 Essentials
X64
.NET 3.5 Framework includes 2.0 amd 3.0
.NET 4.6 Framework Installed
.NET 4.8.0 Framework installed
Security Windows Defender
Fully up to date with all Windows patches
No Media center installed on server

Problem with collection management. Only very rarely does it let me update a title. I can search and see the right movies, but when I click on one it spends minutes saying it is working only to fail with "no connection to online server"

I see this message in the log file

2024-11-04 21:48:30 . 75 - Common.OnlineService.Calls.ReplaceTitle - Error calling 'ReplaceTitleInCollection': System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.InvalidCastException: Operator '=' is not defined for type 'DBNull' and string "UPDATE".

Log file attached after a clean attempt to update "Appointment with Death' a 1988 movie.

Thanks

Simon

I was about to post about this very issue. I have the same error message in the log and the same intermittent updates. Note: Adding the same title as new work every time though, only updates fail.

Now I am getting Windows Server 2016 essentials shutting down dashboard with a list of suspect add-ins with MyMovies listed as the cause of the crash.

Specifically: External-add-ins:
My Movies Enabled Microsoft 5.4.0.100 Manage MyMovies

as the listed item

6:03 AM PST (UTC-8). Log attached. Before this failed update, I had another 4 for different titles that succeded in short succession. In the logs I do see some attempts also initially failed in calling
Quote:
2024-11-05 05:57:57 . 72 - Common.OnlineService.Calls.ReplaceTitle - Calling 'ReplaceTitleInCollection', attempt 1 of 3

only to succed in subsequent attempt.

I am now slowly deleting some of the 300 faulty titles and adding them back in manually. As you say, adding works. Updating fails every time.

Today I managed to do a dozen or so of updates without the error thinking that the problem was resolved. But nope, then it came back. Any update on this?

It took me 4 days but I have deleted all the faulty titles and reloaded them from scratch as update title no longer works. Phew. Exhausting.

Hopefully never have to do that again. Surprised that binnerup has not been abel to figure out why update does not work given they have the log files and a specific date and time when an update failed so they could compare with the logs.

I have been experiencing the same issue when updating the titles. Interestingly enough, previewing the change works, so the app is able to connect to the server, but updating the title itself fails. I am able to get this to work sometimes, however, more often than not, I get the error message that says that the connection to the server failed. Thx.

Tried disabling the Firewall to see if it might have any effect. It did not.

I was on 5.4. Installed 5.41, but see the same issue. Only happens when I try to update a title.

has there been any progress on this? I had to reload my entire movie set again as some of the paths were corrupted and I couldn't use update
