Hi Brian,

I was wondering if there will be a way to mass set the media type for existing titles?

Would it be possible to add the ability to select titles from the main list in Collection Manager, much like is currently possible with the "Move to Group" and "Add/Remove from Category" feature, and then assing a media type to the selected titles?

I have yet to load my TV series into CM, but I would like to go ahead and set the media type of all my current titles to "Movie". It would suck to have to go through 2000 titles by hand!

Thee will not, no, but notice that this is only for disc titles - TV series will import with different meta-data that is unrelated to the disc titles.

This information is part of the webservice, which means the information will come as part of profile updates for most of them.

Excellent news.

After moving to PR4 last night, I decided to let collection manager do an "Import Folder" of my root TV Series folder (~70 shows, ~280 seasons, ~4000 titles). They all got imported with titles of "Season 1", "Season 2", etc. The only thing that was picked up was the "front cover" for each season (folder.jpg I presume). Everything else was completely blank and nothing was captured about individual episodes (not that I was expecting it to be either).

I'm using what I believe to be a very flexible structure/naming convention as follows:

Parent folder for TV Show:

Content of Season 1 folder:

I used to add the actual DVD and Blu-Rays of my TV shows in Collection Manager, but it didn't really serve any purpose since I was unable to access the individual episodes from the MyMovies Media Center interface anyway. So I recently purged all TV Show discs from my CM database. I was using the Media Browser plugin for MCE, but recently switched to XBMC for TV Shows and standardized on the above folder/naming convention structure. I hope I won't have to change things too much to allow CM to pick everything up properly, let alone have the MCE MM interface let me properly interact and play content properly.

The CM web service absolutely rules for maintaining a large movie database, I hope the tradition will continue with TV series as well. I spent a *long* time with Ember and Metabrowser trying to get all the data for my TV Shows perfected in the way CM has done for my 2000+ title movie collection, but a lot of manual effort was required to get my TV series into the state they are today, using the folder structure shown above.

My concern is that CM will be able to properly parse my folders and associate each show, season and episode via your web service properly and offer the ability to contribute missing data and pull in data I may be missing, all with little to no intervention.

If you are looking for someone with a large collection of movies and TV series for beta testing, just let me know. I'd be happy to sign a NDA or whatever.

Thanks!

Peter

As the TV support is not added yet, you can't do that.

There will be documentation on the format when we get closer.

Rasmus and I have discussed this, and we are now confident on sending out a more specific date on this.

The new version including TV Series functionality is aimed to be made available as "My Movies 4" in a 4.00 Pre Release 1 on Tuesday March 1'st.

The final version is aimed to be made available in the period of March 28'th to April 4'th.

Very excited by this. Good luck with the run up to these dates and lets hope nothing significant appears.

Brian-
Are tv series entries going to be handled the same for individual show recordings in avi or some other format, and dvd tv episode collections? As in, will the My TV Series section just hold all media related to TV shows, irregardless of format copied from?

Basic rules: Don't be annoying, don't be obnoxious, and don't post crap, and we will all get along fine. :)

It is initially going to be for individual recordings in any format matching a specific naming scheme.

The DVD TV episode functionality will be added to it later on.

meep there is no "paid" version of the program, its all the same program.

paying is just a way to earn points to unlock functions for those who perhaps want to financial support mymovies, or do not have the time to spend contributing to earn
