Please DO report when:
- the cover art is incorrect - the description, extras, or other data does not match the cover, and this appears to be intentional or clearly does not follow the guide - you contribute something by mistake, which you cannot correct on your own without moderator intervention - the barcode you have matches, but it is for a different movie than what the data & covers show - your disc ID's are different - you have made corrections to pre-existing data and would like points for your effort - if you would like to request a 100% complete (and correct) profile to be locked, or if it is already locked and there is a minor correction required
It is NOT necessary to report if:
- you use folder monitoring, and you get an unexpected result. Please just use the "change title source and data" tool to switch it for the correct one, using the barcode, preferably. - you make a mistake, which you can correct on your own without moderator intervention - you are improving covers, which are already marked as improvable (unless they were incorrect)
Please DO NOT submit data/cover changes if:
- you reported a movie contributed to the wrong country - your barcode matches the data, but you have a totally different movie - you use folder monitoring, and you got an unexpected result - you use folder monitoring, and the movie is correct but barcode does not match exactly with your actual cover - you are changing things to your own preference, and these changes do not follow the guide - you do not have valid covers, that match the barcode, title, and country, and are free of web site logos or other watermarks
This last section is especially important for the safety of your user account. Many mistakes are easily avoidable by following the guide, and by being absolutely sure you are editing the correct profile. And we certainly do not want to issue warnings to anyone by mistake, due to a lack of communication.

So what is the procedure for updating a title that already exists in the webservice, but has nearly no information? To clarify, I have several movies that I've updated on my WHS with the correct cover art and accompaning data. One of the titles on the webservice has a few trinkets of info and nothing else (no cover art or anything). The second title has a little bit more information with the front cover art from a random movie. My personal data has the actual scanned cover art and nearly all accompaning data. I don't want to change all my work to the incorrect data just so I can report the incorrect information and do all this work again. Is there a way for me to update the webservice info without doing that (and get the points)? I guess the problem is, I've already done a bunch of work only to not be able to submit it and don't want to redo said work just for the points...please advise.

If these are titles you downloaded and completed, then you should be able to contribute the data & covers without any problem (unless it has been updated by someone else already). You should be awarded points automatically.
If you created the records from scratch and later found that the titles already exist, then you've made a mistake and there isn't anything we can do to help you. We can't "merge" records and we will not delete existing records just so that you can upload a more complete version from scratch. You'll have to salvage what you can with copy/paste and so on into the existing record.

That seems to be a bit of a flaw in the system then. When the existing data is sparse and/or incorrect and it can't/won't be removed or corrected that seems to discourage people from fixing the problem rather than making the system better. 99% of my stuff was correct or correctable with a few clicks (which I greatly appreciated), but these two titles (overspoke a bit with "several") were incorrect/lacked information to the point that I didn't even bother using the webservice's information. And now that a corrected version worth using is available it's expected that the person that put in the work duplicate his effort because it's considered "his mistake"? I guess I'm a little more dissappointed in the answer than the problem. I genuinely wanted to help the community with titles they may own, unfortunately I don't have all day/night to work on this kind of stuff with a family/job nor the time to duplicate the effort I've already put in.

If you had asked prior to doing this, we could have advised you against going the route that you chose. That is why we have the support forums and option to send reports directly from the client software.
Let me explain why we don't delete valid records...
1) UPC of a movie becomes available a few weeks or months prior to actual release 2) User "a" submit basic information so that it's available immediately 3) users "xyz" add the title to their collection in anticipation of their future purchase 4) On day of release, user "b" decides to create a brand new record that is "more correct/complete", instead of updating the one that is already exists; moderator deletes existing record. 5) users "xyz" will never receive updates because the original record no longer exists in the database. 6) users "xyz" have to manually search for the new record after discovering the original was deleted, just to get the updated information.
Hopefully, you can see how that would be a major inconvenience for everybody else. If it is something that can be corrected, then it should not be deleted. If points are an issue for you or the data was grossly incorrect, send an error report and points will be provided for your efforts in correcting it and prior contributors may be instructed of their mistakes if needed.

and its not that difficult, put the data that can be copy and pasted into notecard, save the cover scans if not already, then on the proper one copy and paste in and scan can be added in.
then you just got to do disc id and other smaller data.

I understand how it can be a problem both ways, definately. It just seems like there would/could/should be a way to merge them although I'm sure it would be fun figuring out how to code that. How about an option to report incorrect data for a movie we didn't use the webservice for, maybe that would be an easier solution. I understand that I am in the great minority here...but let me give you an example of one of the movies. I have an ESPN 30 for 30 film, the webservice has a few snippets of information along with the cover art from the movie "the bounty hunter"...why on earth would I assume any of the information is correct when the cover art is so blatantly wrong? Again, I understand that this is a rare case now that I've been using the service for a while. I also know now that in order to fix it I need to load the incorrect information to report it. I guess my point is, for a new/newer user this seems counter intuitive and isn't spelled out very well from what I remember reading when I started using my movies. It's just a bit frustrating wanting to contribute work after having good success using the service only to have to repeat it. If I get a chance I will try and copy all the information over, just sharing some thoughts

I asked the question in another thread, but it doesn't seem to be getting any interest. So, I will ask it here. How can the Philippines be added to the country list? They use EANs and have a strong movie industry that produces a lot of titles. The language is in the language list, but the country is not available for contribution.
Who do I need to query to get this fixed?

There is a ticket in our system to add missing countries, but it is not as simple as that, as it needs to be done on multiple systems. I cannot say when this will be added. Notice though that although a movie is produced in Philippines, if it is purchased elsewhere, it should be added in the country it was purchased, not produced. I did purchase the movie in the US from a US online retailer. However, an EAN cannot be submitted with the US as country of origin.

I am new here- about a week old- and I have to say- I LOVE THIS APP- I have 3000+ films , and I have always had a "pain in butt" approach to keeping inventory of what I have- so this is awesome ! My questions is- becasue I am new and I dont wanna break any rules or get violations or warnings ! I ahve a ton of dvd / vhs that I have bought from "scrap heaps" ,going out of business stores- and a lot have just front "slipsleeve" and no back , and no barcodes- so I look online for a photo of cover- its hard to find any back covers- so I get the fronts, and if there was an alternate cover for film, I have used it a few times on backs - to be "complete" on artwork-( I am a complete artwork geek)- is that okay ?? I just wanna have a visual for myself for my database- for my inventory ,but if I can help by contributing so others would have easier time , a lot I have are NOT on the service, I want to help- so should I do this ? Or if it isnt the correct back as said above- is there a way to just save it for me- or will it auto go to everyone and then I conributed wrong or bad info for others?? This might be elementary , but I am new here and a ton of replies below- and- just wanted to cut to the chase! If anyone wants to- please even email me with an answer so I can do things correctly- just let me know in subject line it has to do with MMP service- also--- does this service have one for music ? Or is there a music app like this that is available ? I dont wanna store music ,just a inventory like this Thank you in advance for any help email--- freying0609@aol.comJohn Ginder

You may not contribute a front cover in the back cover spot.

It appears to be the same title and nothing more than a re-release with a slightly different cover. If that is the case then we don't make duplicates for what is just a re-release cover on the same barcode for the same title but keep the original or first version uploaded in high quality so it appears this should stay as it is.
What if anything is different?

This si the Original release with the white cardboard outer cover and the (for want of a better term) animated cover that moves when you tilt it. Uf you look at the pictures for seasons 2-4 you will know what i mean. Apologies for sounding a little vague. andycob wrote:It appears to be the same title and nothing more than a re-release with a slightly different cover. Then it sounds as if the profile is correct as it is, it is the same item and the current case cover is perfectly valid and will be the one kept as it has already been uploaded. We do not make duplicates for alternate covers such as slips or re-release covers for the same title on the same barcode but will keep the first version uploaded in high quality so this should stand.

I get what you are saying and that's fine. just the first one kinda looks out of place with the others on the hone app. I knwo I can change my personal preferences on the PC version but would be nice to be be able to do so on the android too. Ah well. andycob wrote:Then it sounds as if the profile is correct as it is, it is the same item and the current case cover is perfectly valid and will be the one kept as it has already been uploaded. What is the process for reporting an error?
I am using the MyMovies Scraper for XBMC and I am getting Raiders Of the Lost Ark cover art and data for Temple of Doom.

Bryan, in your case what you have is a miss-matched title, where the profile data/cover are actually correct, just not the title you were expecting. Reporting it would not in any way help you. I'm personally not very familiar with XMBC, but if you have a look at the scraper documentation, there are some tips in there for how you can force it to recognize as a specific title. http://www.mymovies.dk/how-to/written-documentation.aspx?Page=My%20Movies%20XBMC%20ScraperOr, if you use the My Movies software to manage your library, you can have the required XMBC metadata files stored in your movie folders.
