My first post was from user perspective. As a customer of MM, I want to see the software continue to grow and be supported. Staying with Win 7/8 will IMHO limit your new user base and hence your revenue stream.

Completely agree, it's great software that so many of us use day to day.
IMHO the model for the revenue stream is a problem, because you pay once and have MM for life it means the user base has to constantly grow in order for the income even to stay steady, inevitably the user base plateaus and so the revenue starts to dry up.
Of course no-one likes paying for updated versions, but we all want good software, I'd be happy to pay for a good new Windows 10 MM app, either that or take it open source..

It has been a consideration to change the pay-once model, but we do not feel it makes sense to do unless bringing something new to the table. My Movies is not open source software, and never will be - we have a lot of other applications than Windows Media Center, and if no alternative makes sense, we will focus on the other parts. We generally like open source software, but we cannot base a business on it. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Click here for troubleshooting.Having a problem?
