Hi all, Welcome to this forum for discussions about My Movies for Apple TV. The application is introduced as a free "Light" version, well knowing that it feature wise is more limited than what users would normally expect from our application. We hope that the free application will give us a lot of feedback both on the application itself, and on its playback capabilities. I realize that you are looking at the low adoption of the current Apple TV app and de-prioritizing further work on it. While I certainly can understand that, I think you also need to consider that MyMovies has always been a fairly high-end solution - meaning that those of us that use it, probably expect a lot of power/features in our solutions. Given that the current version of the app is quite limited, it is not surprising that very few of us are using it, but I don't think it necessarily means that we're not interested.
I personally just bought the competing Infuse app to get closer to a good solution on Apple TV, but it's definitely no MyMovies. If I could combine the capabilities of Infuse (smooth playback of multiple media types, pretty nice library GUI) with the power of MyMovies (more control of the metadata, custom filters), I would be very close to an ideal solution. Infuse is slowly working on adding more metadata control to their app, but it's probably going to be a while before I'm really satisfied.

I second jbmccune. It is certainly missed daily in our house. My Movies is the best out there but as we have had to move all our entertaining devices over to apple products we now are unable to get the same features with MyMovies therefore have stopped using it. PLEASE add more features to the apple TV 4 app and re launch it I am sure you will see a greater adoption rate if you did.

So I assume plans for this have stopped? Shame as NFuse seems to work fairly well.Plays MKV and ISO rips (no menu support) without issue as well as uncompressed PCM. However, I'm sure My Movies can come up with something a bit nicer. Are there any plans to put this back on the table?

Nfuse is very popular and is able to play ISO and MKV without issue, including 4K HDR. I believe you have an opportunity to make a more competitive product.

But indeed, we started this as an addition to our application on other devices, meaning we do not have folder import and monitoring on the solution, but got to a place where we had to prioritise our focus to the upcoming Mac app (which have cost a much higher amount of development hours than anticipated), and then our focus will have to go to a version 3 on iOS, as this is one place where there are potential of getting the investment back. Have we not run into the problems with audio licensing, it is likely that we would have taken this Apple TV solution further. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Unless the logon issue was resolved, the update made to the Apple TV application broke it (logon) which meant it couldn’t be used. I was waiting for the bug to be resolved as that was put on the back burner to other work. At the moment you may find people have given up waiting... I think your product is fantastic but I don’t want to go out and buy a dune player to use it as I did for WMC. I would not base any decision on the uptake of the Apple TV Lite version unless you fixed the authentication issue (if you have, please let me know as I would give it another go).

I actually just came across this app. I have been busily scanning my titles into Vudu, which now links to Movies Anywhere. It really seems that this is the direction that the market is going. While it is easy enough to get new movies (whether by direct purchase through one of the video locker services or getting digital codes, it is both time consuming and costly to scan in old movies -- not to mention the fact that studios like MGM aren't playing, meaning you can't have online access (via Apple TV -- I've got several TBs of digitized movies on a Drobo that I can get access to via Plex, but it's a pain). Anyway, it would seem that now would be a good time to update your product.
