Hey Brian, Happy New Year!
A few years ago I made a CMC service to listen on port 51408, so that your My Movies Pro Android/iOS app could remote control CMC, starting movie playback and pressing buttons and such, since WMC is dead. This worked really well, and My Movies/CMC users love using the your app to browse their collection, and to initiate playback to a CMC PC.
Recently some users informed me this isn't working anymore. I've spent quite a bit of troubleshooting, and the app simply does not connect anymore. I finally installed a sniffer on my phone, and discovered that when connecting to a "Host PC", the My Movies app now uses port 51414 instead of 51408. When I change the Type to Media Center Extender 1, the port changes to 51409, and Media Centers 2-5 are 51410-51413. None use 51408.
I've also noticed that the old My Movies Pro 3 no longer connects either, and also uses port 51414 for Host PC connections. I'm guessing your developer team pushed out an app update, for both My Movies Pro 3 & 4, that changed this port #.
Which brings us to my questions:
Was this an intentional change or an accidental change? I'm not sure if I need to change my app to listen on port 51414 instead of 51408, or if you will be changing back to 51408 on your end.
I thought 51414 was a legacy data port that you used to use for a My Movies tray service. Is it now okay for me to listen in on 51414, or will I be competing for that port with one of your services? I don't want to step on your toes or cause problems. Obviously, this would only matter if a user had both My Movies and CMC installed on the same PC, which is a valid but optional configuration. Me personally, I only run My Movies on my server, and CMC on my HTPC's connect to it over the network, so there would be no competition in that configuration.
I appreciate your guidance, thanks!
Paul
