I am sorry to hear that you find it to be frustrating, but it is actually not that difficult to stick to the standards, if you are scanning the covers yourself - if you are obtaining them from various different sources, fronts and backs as separate items, that would be a problem. First of all - the aspect ratios does not mean that front and back covers are correct in relation to each other. And, the fact that one or more covers slips though the checks does not mean that you can just choose to bypass the contribution rules as it suits you. Initially - what is the source of the covers you are contributing? Are you scanning the covers yourself? Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? I have taken an example of what the moderators see when they handle one of your contributions - as you can see here, the system shows that there is a big difference between the front and back cover. The aspect ratios has no relation to this in any way - a 100x140 pixel image has the exact same aspect ratio as a 100000x140000 pixel image, which is 1000 times bigger, so please do not use that as a guideline. Hello, I'm trying to contribute to update some covers for better quality ones. Some contributions are working well but some give me a message "The cover you are trying to contribute seems not different from the one on the title.". I can tell that they are really different in quality. I successfully contributed to "Beauty and the beast" (8717418506759) and "Hocus Pocus" (8717418576639) the new covers are displayed on the online collection. But for the titles "Aladdin" (2019) (8717418550776) and "Aladdin" (1992) (8717418557690) I always have the earlier error message... Thank you, File Attachment(s): Capture d’écran 2022-03-04 à 13.52.05.jpg (383kb) downloaded 22 time(s).

I have question for uploading Laserdisc covers. I use to make the photos with my phone with trial and error and then crop them, as laserdisc covers are too big to scan. I get warning I can get banned for uploading scans if I will upload the covers in the app. Can somebody explain me the policy for laserdisc covers, as my experience is that well made photos are the best way to get covers.

LaserDisc covers are accepted as camera photos if they are created so that then are without glares (no flash), and as evenly from the top as possible. Your account will not be banned for this, and if it happens you get warnings for this, please write support@mymovies.dk. Notice! This is ONLY an exception for LaserDisc covers and items in boxes that cannot be scanned. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Click here for troubleshooting.Having a problem? Hi, i couldn´t find a solution to my problem. Normaly i contibute Cover Scans separated by front an back but only because my main scan always get an error message that my scan does not have the right aspect ratio. i cutted down to only the cover, no white around and i dont know what the problem is. so the ratio of 2995 x 4312 isn´t right anymore for BluRays or 4k Discs but what would be the right ratio for an normal or slim HD Cover? Would save me a lot of time if i don´t need to separate every cover. My scan got the ratio of 3110 x 1745. Hope anyone can help me.

Regarding "Import Full Cover Scan": I just found this option. Very nice. But it's not really working for me. To test it out, I scanned a full cover. Tried to import it via this option but I get an error message saying it has an "Unexpected Size" and that "...the image has an aspect ration that can not automatically be splitted." So, what should the correct aspect ratio be? I scanned the full cover (Blu-Ray) and didn't touch anything. Should the aspect ratio not be correct? Properties says it is 3116 x 1740 pixels. What is the size the app expects to automatically split the cover? File Attachment(s): IMG_20240726_0002.jpg (5,369kb) downloaded 7 time(s).

The import may not function with any non standard cases, particularly the spine. Manufacturers make quite a variety of case thicknesses these days especially for some that then have internal trays for additional discs.
From that image the spine on that looks considerably wider than the typical 'standard' case which likely makes the importer throw a warning as the image of the full cover is a wider aspect than it expects for an ordinary case cover.
For non standard cases you will likely have to crop the image manually down to the left and right removing the spine.

Nothing fancy about it. Furthermore, the importer not only throws out a warning that can be bypassed. The warning appears and after I click on "Okay", the importer cancels any import and I am back to square one. I did create two covers of the same pixel size via Gimp, but the "Full Cover importer" would save me a lot of time and work in the future :)

Hi, For some reason, MM freezes when I try to upload a cover. The progress bar doesn't move, and I have to close the process using Windows Task Manager. I'm attempting to upload scans for "Rio Grande" (barcode 9783866153073). The images are in JPG format with a resolution of around 3000x5000 pixels. What could be causing this issue? File Attachment(s): log.txt (501kb) downloaded 0 time(s).

Please try to scan in 300 dpi. Why? I managed to upload those images through the mobile app without any issues. The desktop app is a complete mess and crashes constantly. I'm regularly receiving emails urging me to pay for your subscription. Why on earth would I pay for something that doesn't work? Why hasn't there been an update in over two years? Nearly all the films in my collection recommend uploading high-resolution covers. Well, 3000x5000 is high-resolution. What do you want? Please clarify and specifically define what you consider "high-resolution" within the app itself!

First of all - the subscription you have been asked to create is on the Android or iOS app - we do not have a subscription on the Windows app - these days, we are focusing our development primarily on the mobile apps, as this is where our customers are. The Windows app is for the majority free. So, with all respect, when you choose not to upgrade the mobile app, you are choosing not to support further development of the service in general. Technically, on the covers, some years ago we had 150 DPI as the highest stored quality, today we are storing in 300 DPI - the pixel size differs depending on the cover art size, but overall, it is around below 1500x2000 pixels for a full cover in 300 DPI. It means that when you when you scan in 3000x5000, it will be down-scaled on the servers anyway, and the file the apps have to process are 4x the size. It should not give you issues or crashes - if you have crashes on the Windows app, you have some kind of other issue, and I suggest you then post a log file and description in another topic. "Nearly all the films in my collection recommend uploading high-resolution covers." - this is because the highest size originally was 150 dpi, where it now is 300 dpi. 72 dpi is standard screen resolution, Mac with retina displays are then double that, and, 300 dpi is considered print quality - scanning in higher than 300 dpi would not give anyone significantly higher quality in any way, unless the cover is extremely zoomed - most scanners can't provide more details in 600 dpi vs. 300 dpi, and the file sizes increases by a very high factor.
