MyMovies 6 - extremely slow on iOS!

Hi,
I updated from MyMovie 5 pro to myMovies 6 pro on my two iPads (iOS 26.2 and iOS 17.7.8). On both devices myMovies 6 is MUCH slower than the prvious version myMovies 5.
When I select a disc from the collection listing with version 5 it switched in almost no time to the entry and showed the data. With version 6 it takes 3-4 seconds on both devices where nothing happens before showing the data of the entry.
Switching back to the collection has no delay.

What am I doing wrong?
Do I need a special configuration to get the old speed?

BTW synchronizing with myMovies 6 pro seems also to be much slower…

Hi,

It sounds quite odd - especially on two different devices.

Can you try to record a few videos for us and send to support@mymovies.dk comparing the two?

There are many structural differences between version 5 and 6, and the synchronisation speed will be affected by that, but opening the details page should not be affected much - it will be affected some because more data is being loaded on the profiles.

Version 6 allows for full editing of profiles - to do this, it loads all data of a profile during sync, where previously, disc structures were not loaded - this does affect the sync time some on an initial install, and also some when updating profiles.

The first thing I would like for you to do is to remove the app from the device, re-add it from the App Store, then log in and let it re-sync, to determine if this reproduces after a fresh database.

Then, do you use the app both on iPhone and iPad, or only iPad? If so, do you see the same thing on iPhone also?

Just a note when comparing - please check your settings on version 5 compared to what is default in version 6.

Version 6 has by default a higher cover size loading depending on device.

Version 6 no longer have a settings for a load limit for actors - it always has what in version 5 was defined as "Load all".

Both of these settings affects both sync speed and loading speed, so when comparing, be sure to have the same on version 5.

Thanks for all the infos and the help.
I will make the videos and email them.

The setting for the pictures is medium (40kB), I didn‘t touch this setting. Is this a higher cover size?
I can‘t compare the settings to version 5, I already deleted Version 5 from both devices… shall I reinstall version 5?

I already recognized that the number of actors is unlimited. I had this limited in my version 5 configuration (I think to 20). I don‘t think that this is the problem. Movies which only have 10 actors in the list are opening slow as well.

I tried with a lot of entries. Some seem to open faster, some slower…

I would like that you reinstall both version 5 and 6, and then let both sync your collection, and compare after that.

Can you send the collection numbers of a few titles that opens slow, and one that opens fast? Then I can see the data on those.

Titels with many discs and long disc structures potentially can take longer to open.

I am not able to reinstall version 5, it is not accessible in the AppStore.

Collection
#5123, #5122, #5104, #5069, #5087
are all very slow.

They seem to open faster when doing this a couple of time in a row (in-out-in-our-in-out)
Is this a cache problem?

#5127, #5085, #5084 seem to open faster at the first try.

Specifications of the two iPads:
1. iPad Generation 6, iOS 17.7.10
2. iPad Generation 8, iOS 26.2
Both have "myMovies 6.06 pro" running.

I made 4 videos and I have send them with the following text to support@mymovies.dk:

video_1: shows opening an entry (#5121) on "Gen 6" with multiple open apps in the background (duration appr. 3.5 secs). It seems to open faster when doing it a couple of times in a row (duration appr. 2 secs).
video_2: shows opening the same entry (#5121) on "Gen 6" with no additional apps in the background (duration appr. 2 secs). It is still slow in caomparison to MyMovies 5 but fasten than video_1
video_3: shows opening an entry (#5122) on "Gen 8" (duration appr. 2 secs). It seems to open faster when doing it a couple of times in a row. At the end the speed seems to be the same as on MyMovies 5.
video_4: show opening an entry (#5114) on "Gen 8" without almost no delay. With multiple apps in the background this entry opens similar to video_3.

With myMovies 5 I never had these issues. All entries opened on both iPads in any case immediately.

Is in version 6 something different in memory usage / management?
