I have reported this many times and for a long time, but it's still not fixed in 5.42PR, so I'm reporting this again in the hope that it will be fixed when the final version is released.

When you add a title and select the type "movie" (not disc title), for example to add a single movie file that doesn't come from a disc, it works fine if you select the "add offline" option and add the path to the file (within its own folder) once the movie is added to the collection.

However, if you select the "add online" option and specify the file location when you're adding the movie (a file within its own folder), the movie isn't added to the queue, so you can't add it to the collection.

In addition, when the movie is added using the "add offline" option and you add the path location once the movie is added, the metadata isn't generated properly. For example, the folder.jpg isn't exported, even when it's available for the title.
This means that when you then add/import the title to another software's collection (jriver, Kodi, etc), the title has no poster in that collection. Even clicking on "export metadata" manually doesn't help.
The only workaround is to right click on the poster title in the MM collection, export it as folder.jpg. Then the title has a cover in the other software.

I have the "generate front cover as JPG" option checked in the metadata options, and I generate metadata for Dune, Kodi and jRiver.
Covers are exported fine for all titles when present, just not in this situation.

Re-generating / updating all the metadata doesn't help either.

Please could you fix?
