I would like to suggest introducing a separate **“Digital Title” / “Digital Release”** collection item, similar to the existing Disc Title structure.

The reason is a behaviour I noticed when owning the same movie both physically and digitally.

For physical releases, My Movies already has a very clear structure:

**Disc Title → Movie**

For example, in my attached screenshot of *My Lucky Stars* (“Tokyo Powerman”), I own several different physical releases. Each physical release has its own collection number, while all of them reference the same Movie profile.

This works perfectly.

A digital purchase, however, does not seem to have an equivalent parent/title object. Instead, the Movie profile itself becomes the standalone collection item.

From a user’s perspective, this causes problems when the same movie is already owned physically.

A recent example:

I have owned *Dampfnudelblues* on Blu-ray for many years. The Blu-ray is collection number **#3817**.

Yesterday I also purchased the movie digitally on Apple/iTunes and added it to My Movies. The digital Movie received collection number **#6289**.

The iOS app handles this correctly: the digital purchase is shown as a new item added yesterday.

In My Movies Collection Management for Windows 5.43, however, the Movie profile #6289 is also shown underneath the older Blu-ray #3817. As a result, in “All Elements” the new digital purchase is effectively associated with the old physical release and is no longer displayed as a newly added purchase.

Interestingly, the digital Movie itself is present and can be found correctly under **Movies**.

Even more interesting: if I remove the Blu-ray from my collection, the digital Movie immediately appears correctly as the recent purchase using its own personal data.

So the digital purchase itself is not missing. The problem seems to be the relationship between a standalone Movie and an existing physical Disc Title referencing the same Movie.

I think a cleaner solution would be to treat digital purchases similarly to physical releases:

**Disc Title #3817**
→ Movie: Dampfnudelblues

**Digital Title #6289**
Provider: Apple/iTunes
Purchase date: 18 August 2026
→ Movie: Dampfnudelblues

Instead of the current concept where the Movie profile itself also represents the digital ownership.

This would allow every individual purchase/release to have its own:

* Collection number
* Purchase date
* Provider/store
* Purchase price
* Digital quality (HD/4K etc.)
* Personal data

while still referencing the same shared Movie metadata.

It would also make it possible to properly represent situations where someone owns the same movie on DVD, Blu-ray, UHD, Apple/iTunes, Amazon, etc., without mixing the individual ownership records.

I am attaching a screenshot of *My Lucky Stars / Tokyo Powerman* because it illustrates the current structure particularly well: several physical Disc Titles all reference the same Movie profile, while the digital Movie exists as a standalone item.

I am not suggesting duplicating the Movie metadata. My suggestion is simply to add a **digital equivalent of a Disc Title as the ownership/release layer above the Movie profile**.

I think this would make digital and physical collections much more consistent, especially for users who collect both formats.

My suggestion of a separate “Digital Title” was mainly based on the way the Windows client currently behaves.

If the Windows client supported multiple copies of the same Movie in the same way as iOS and Android, that would indeed solve exactly what I am trying to achieve.
