Hi Brian, Would it be possible to provide a some kind of toggle or switch in the API to prevent MYMovies from scanning my folders excessively for Dune file paths(I don’t own a Dune player). It just hammers my server and brings it to its knees with file path checking, pinging SQL wiith a ton of queries, and what I think is duplicate file path validation. I understand trying to be through, but could you make it more cpu resource friendly. At the very least provide a switch to turn off dune file paths.
I use CMC for my front end and when it makes a query after I’ve added a movie, cpu spikes a lot. I’ve used task manager to look at the usage and it’s MyMovies hitting SQL during export. Providing a switch for Paul would greatly reduce the amount of data exported that is not needed. 😁

Brian, Hope you're doing well, haven't seen you around here lately. This issue that teddyboy mentions is what we had talked about a few months ago. The two API commands that need a switch to disable the extra paths data folder-scanning (for Dune paths if I recall correctly) are: GetTitleAndPersonalData GetMovie
Users like teddyboy have encountered major usability issues because my software exports data as fast as possible from the API, with no breaks between titles, and in turn as My Movies services those requests it seems to hang on each request as each media folder is scanned. And when exporting movie Titles my software calls both of those API commands back-to-back (the GetMovie is used just to grab the YouTubeTrailerID), so the media folders actually get scanned twice per title.
When I first brought up this need with you, I was primarily concerned about media storage HDD's being spun up just to export static movie data from the My Movies DB, and was also hopeful that by eliminating the Dune paths evaluation step the export would be faster in general, as the disk access seemed to be the main speed limiting factor.
But I hadn't considered that the performance impact would be so great it would affect user's ability to even access their PC's. teddyboy brought this to my attention a few days ago, commenting that he struggled to even remotely access his server if an API export was running - I think he understated how problematic this is for him in his message above.
I've actually had many users reach out to me about this issue. In all cases, I've encouraged them to reach out to you. Not sure how many have actually asked you for help, but I've only noticed one or two myself. I think it is safe to say that a lot more users are affected than just the few that posted here.
I'm very hopeful you can provide a method to disable this behavior.
Paul

Hi guys, I am working on a time sensitive project at the time which needs full focus, so it will be some time before I can get around to this. I suggest that you create a topic with a sum-up of requested API changes, and then we can put that as a sticky in the feature requests section, so that everything is collected and can be found easily when I get to this. Hi Brian, I made Paul aware of your post. He’s going to put together his list of API changes in a new topic in the feature request section so you can make it a sticky. Then it will be all in one place. :-)
Thanks!

I would like to revive this post and ask again about disabling the Dune search.
I have been having a problem with CCC becoming frozen when trying to export data. We have come to the conclusion as stated before in other posts, that it is this search for Dune paths.
I don't use Dune and would like to have a feature that can have CCC disable this Dune search at users request in CCC.
CCC becomes unresponsive when attempting to do an export and requires a force close on the program. This issue was addressed in the past by pauven from Chamconsoft and was an issue you were going to look into.
What is the status of this request?
