Hey guy's I really would appreciate if someone could go into their downloaded programs and tell me what SQL server's they are running for my Movies 5.40 since I still have a media center that I would like to keep running after almost 10 years and over 700 movies. And a few weeks ago my Movies said to update so I caved and now it's gone from my WMC.
Someone please help. Thanks Palito

Hi Brian,
I feel palito37's pain.
As someone who has used MyMovies since it used an Access Database back-end, I don't quite understand the "depreciation" of the Win7 WMC versions of MyMovies. As it stands now as my Win7 WMC HTPCs die or become corrupt, I will be depreciating MyMovies altogether, because I use MyMovies to watch discs via WMC's 10ft view interface, not so much for "collection management". With amount of work involved, gathering most of the data nowadays just to copy and paste it into the application, to do it solely for collection management is too much hassle. For me, a spreadsheet would be easier...
Alternatively, you could package everything needed for an install in one or more downloads, instead of relying on being able to download from Microsoft so that you are not abandoning us altogether.
Just my thoughts,
John

John I'd echo this. I am in the same boat. The app suggested the update, it was done and then broke in WMC. Cannot install cleanly again because of the downloads from Microsoft being gone. I could download and install the SQL server manually, but do not know what it would take to get the app to talk to the database.

Hey Palito37 again, I have found a solution to all of our problems. By downloading the latest version of my movies (5.42) and running the installer until it finishes download the SQL servers then quit the program through task manger (DO NOT LET IT START INSTALLING SQL's). Then with this link (https://web.archive.org/web/20250904190840/https://www.mymovies.dk/media/My%20Movies%20for%20Windows%205.40.zip) you can download 5.40 which afterwards you run the setup of 5.40 like normal no quitting. This then uses the new SQL servers but with the WMC functionality.
If you have any questions about it just ask on the forum and Ill be happy to help!! Worked for me.
