This is a long-standing problem, which is still present in V5.44 PR2.

If you have a newly created Title record, and you paste the IMDB-ID into the "IMDB:" field, you are prompted with "We recommend enabling 'Inherit Cast &amp Crew'..." with "Yes"/"No" buttons at the bottom of the pop-up. (NOTE: This prompt comes up even if there is not a Movie already created which matches the IMDB-DB, which is a related but separate issue. This prompt should NEVER be presented if there is not already a corresponding Movie, as it creates a cascading set of problems that will be documented in a separate bug report.)

If the user responds "YES", the "Inherit Cast & Crew" checkbox in the screen gets automatically check-marked (selected), BUT the IMDB-ID the user just entered into the "IMDB:" field is erased. This means that even if the Movie *does* exist, there will not be a linkage between the Title record and and and Movie record, since the Title record has a blank "IMDB:" field. Please fix this to make sure that the IMDB-ID is not erased when "YES" is selected, as this missing value then creates a multitude of downstream problems.

If the user responds "NO", all works properly and the IMDB-ID the user entered into the "IMDB:" field is NOT erased. If a Movie record does exist (which I can only find out by answering "NO" and then saving my edits) I will then manually check the box to "Inherit Cast & Crew" and also provide additional detail into the associated Movie record. If no corresponding Movie record exists, I will proceed to "Create Movie" and provide that data and submit my new Movie record. (The "Create Movie" function is also problematic as implemented, and I've begun to provide other bug reports to address some of those issues.)

This is a serious bug. The workaround is to always respond "NO" to the prompt, which means the current prompt and its current action as implemented only produces bad results.
