Hi all...I just upgraded my WHS to the latest version as well as my PC to the latest version there. As a result I can no longer connect to the file storage via the extenders. I get a File Connection Error dialog box that suggest I open the Collection Management to fix. Not real sure what happened. I doubled checked that the Guest account was still active on the WHS, not sure what else to look at. Please help...have some antsy family members wanting their movies back!

Fixed...apparently the share permissions on the WHS got reset during the uninstall/reinstall of the new version. Might want to add that as an FAQ if others are seeing the same issue

I am having this problem too. What share permissions did you change/update?

Same problem as well - can't connect locally, can't connect from a separate machine. Tried adding suspected accounts that may have been removed from the share... but no luck so far.

Found the share and permissions required, posted them here: http://tinyurl.com/yaj6y99 (yes it links back to this forum, ASP.NET was preventing me from submitting a link that included special characters.)

cfeduke - Thanks for the reply. I actually do not have any problem connecting with my Windows 7 PC. It's only the extenders. Also my share folder is present on my WHS and all the permissions are correct. I just recently built a dedicated HTPC and I am moving away from my Dell XPS 420. I installed Windows 7 64 bit on the HTPC whereas the Dell had Windows 7 32 bit. Everything was working fine when my extenders were associated with the Dell XPS 420. I just moved the extenders to now be associated with the HTPC and I am getting the error: Quote:My Movies could not connect to the file storage on the server. Please open the Collection Management program to correct the problem. On my HTPC I only have the client installed and I can connect just fine with the Collection Management software and with MyMovies inside of Media Center. I only get this issue on the extenders. I have 1 of my 3 extenders still associated with the Dell XPS 420 and it can connect just fine. So it seems like it is something with the new HTPC and not on WHS. I have a full license that I use to review MyMovies for my blog ( http://mynetworkproject.wordpress.com) and I was unable to successfully move that license from the Dell over to my new HTPC. Brian, could that have something to do with it? Please help!!! The family is frustrated and I have tried everything that I know to try.

Yes I do have it installed. Everything seems to be working fine with that as it has been backing up and moving my shows over to the home server.

The guest account has always been enabled. I just double checked and it is still enabled.

The permissions are set to full control for the WHS users. The Share name is MyMoviesFileStorage$.
Also, this is still working on my old Dell with 1 extender.

Ok. This is set correctly, as it should. If you say you have one PC who's extender CAN connect, but another PC who's extenders CAN'T connect, there is nothing wrong on the WHS part. Then you need to confirm to have installed the "WIndows Home Server Connector" software on the Windows Media Center PC. If you have - reinstall it. If still not working, re-connect the extender to the PC. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Click here for troubleshooting.Having a problem? I do have the windows home server connector software installed. I will remove the extenders, reinstall the connector software and add the extenders back. I will post back in about an hour or so with the results.
Brian, is there anyway you can help me with moving the license as well? I sent you an email and a PM but did not get a reply.
Thanks again for all your help.

I uninstalled the Home Sever Connector software, uninstalled my extenders, installed the Home Server Connector software and configured my extenders.
After all that I am still getting the same error on the extender. Would this be captured in the log files so I could send those?
