Hello,

I have two titles that should be added to the database. I have tried to add them myself but due two technical reasons I've been told to contact a moderator that may be able to add the titles.

The titles are:

Original Title: BONES - The Complete Season 7
IMDB: tt0460627
Production year: 2011

Not able to add the title manually since another title with that IMDB code already exists. NOTE: On IMDB all Bones seasons seem to have the same IMDB code. This seems to be correct as Seasons 1-6 which I have are also listed in MyMovies with the same IMDB code.

Original Title: Agatha Christie's Poirot - The Complete Collection
IMDB: N/A
Barcode: 5037115344533
Production year: 1989 (set covers all seasons from 1989 and onwards)

Not able to add the title manually since no IMDB code exists for the title on IMDB.

I have added all relevant information locally and they are both at 100%. If confirmation that the titles are received I assume I can select 'Update Disc Titles' to upload the data.

Regards,

What is the barcode and country for that Bones release? You need a barcode to add a title to the web service.

It is not recommended to add a title by IMDB id because all versions of a Movie will share that IMDB as will all versions and all seasons of a TV series. Add your release by its barcode, there are releases of that season already on the webservice.

The Agatha Christie title you mention is already on the web service under barcode 5037115344533, you cannot upload yours at all if it is for the same country. You should add the version on the wed service if it is from the same country copy acroos any addtional data you may have and delete the unecessary local duplicate you made.

It is always recommended to add your title by barcode

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response.

I always add my titles with the barcode but in these two cases I got the message that the barcode was unknown to MyMovies. Hence I had to add them manually. Poirot was added some time ago and I guess that the title may have been added later to MyMovies. With 'Bones - Season' I also tried to add the title by the barcode. Again the message came up that the title was unknown to MyMovies so I entered everything manually as I did with Poirot.

The barcode you listed for Poirot is exactly the same as I entered from the back cover of the box set. Is there any way to merge the information? The title has 32 discs and to re-enter all the disc information and especially the episode mapping is a heck of a job. The title that is on the database is very basic without much information.

The barcode for 'Bones - Season 7' is 5039036050715 (read from the back cover).

It is not that I mind much the titles being 'locally entered', the only problem is that they won't show up on the online version of my collection. As it is I use my iPad to control WMC/MyMovies which works beautifully and is for me a perfect way to access and watch what I want. Unfortunately I am unable to connect through the 'Connect to WHS 2011' option as the connection times out. This could be because of my security software (Symantec Endpoint Protection) but I have not been able to figure out where or why it blocks access.. :(

For me, MyMovies is the ultimate way of managing my collection which has become quite significant. It provides the flexibility and user friendliness that works perfectly for me. With over 1,300 titles amounting to about 33 Tb of data I am happy not to have to look for the DVD or Blu-Ray every time I want to watch something. However, should anything go wrong I can copy the titles again as I have every single original..

Best regards,

No there is no way to merge them I'm afraid, you will have to add the webservice version and copy across or redo any changes or additions as users may now have that one already in their collections. This is why it is alwasy a good idea to check for the existence of title immediately before you start making a new entry, then make the new bare profile, contriubute it and then start filling it in stops this sort of thing happening.

I'm looking at your post and thinking there is no such thing as IMDB code already exists only BARCODE (this is the UPC or EAN code as nothing to do with IMDB) already exists and if it does that means the title probably does unless it happens to be very rare duplicate.

I'm not sure what to say if it didn't exist and you then immediately tried to make it you should have been able to. There is only that Poirot one on the system for the UK on that barcode so either it DID exist or you left a long period between when you first tried adding it and then contributing it and someone else made it in that time.

The Poirot one was made back at the end of May this year, so either you left it a long time to post now or it was already there.

The Bones one however shows up as unknown so you should have no problems contributing that.

Hi,

Thanks for the clarifiction.

I've had the Poirot title prior to May and it only became an issue when I started to use my iPad to select and control titles I want to watch on the TV (with a desktop connected to it). This works perfectly but unfortunately local titles does not show up on the iPad as this is getting its data from the online collection. But I'll work around it. :)

I have tried to enter the Bones -Season 7 title but it will not let me as it says the IMDB code is the same as for another title (previous seasons of Bones). When checking my collection I notice that seasons 1-6 of Bones all have the same IMDB code in the database and is also the same code that I tried to use. On the IMDB website there's only one entry for Bones which covers all seasons. As an IMDB code is required when creating a new title and the system will not let me enter a duplicate IMDB code a pop-up tells me to contact a moderator which is able to enter titles and I guess overriding the duplicate IMDB code block. This is essentially why I wrote the initial post..

When contributing a new profile from PC, there is absolutely no such block on using an IMDb ID more than once. An IMDb ID can be used an unlimited number of times, and there is no check of any sort on PC version regarding it, except that you must include an IMDb ID in order to contribute a new profile. What you cannot do is contribute a new profile with a barcode + country combination that already exists (this can only be done by a moderator).

If no IMDb ID exists for a title, you use "tt0000000", however both of the series you mentioned in your first post have IMDb ID's. For a TV series, all seasons will have the same IMDb ID. If individual episode pages exist at IMDb, these will have unique IMDb ID's as well, but will only be used for DVD's of individual episodes.

The mobile apps on the other hand, do have a check when adding titles that looks at IMDb codes. However, it merely is giving a warning that you may already have the same title (as a different release) but will let you add the title anyway as long as it is not an identical match to an existing record already in your collection.

Hi,

Thanks again for clarification.

I will just like to reiterate that when trying to add 'Bones - Season 7' using the barcode on the back of the Blu-Ray box set I got the message that the title didn't exist in the MyMovies database. Going to the 'create new title' after clicking 'edit movie details online' the page asks for 'Original title', 'IMDB ID' and 'Production year' but no barcode. I used the IMDB ID from the previous seasons but when trying to save the new title an error message appears saying that 'there is already a title in the database with the same IMDB ID, please contact a moderator who can enter the new title'. As it was not possible to save the title I contacted a moderator as it was said. I have also entered the title manually with the effect that it shows up as local. This was all done on a PC.

I chacked again a few minutes ago, and when entering the barcode for 'Bones - Season 7' I still get the message that the title doesn't exist in the MyMovies database.

Finally I wonder if it is at all possible to get the 'loval' titles to show up on my online collection? As it is, any 'local' title will not be uploaded to the online service when syncronizing and I have found no way to include them.

That explains it, you don't add titles using the edit movie details online button, that is the link for details such as trailers, posters and back drops which are now handled seperately for TV series anyway so is only really required for movies.

You need to click 'Add Titles' on the tool bar or from in the title menu in Collection Management to add titles.

Try watching the videos here: http://www.mymovies.dk/how-to/video-tutorials/collection-management-for-windows.aspx

The first one will show you what you need to do.
