I recently purchased an Amazon Fire TV (as in just got it two days ago) and thought that I could download the MyMovies App for Amazon to the Fire TV. I was unable to find it in the list of Apps on the Fire TV. I was hoping that once I was able to connect my Fire TV to my network I could then download the MyMovies app and I could then set it to connect to my WHS 2011 which is where I store my collection to be able to use it like the Android version of the app at least. Where I could play the movies, like I can on my Android phone and tablet. My question is, would there be an option for this type of app in the future?

My Setup:

Windows Home Server 2011 (with My Movies 5 add-in)

HTPC running Windows Media Center (with My Movies Client)

3 Android devices (phones, tablets) (with My Movies App Pro)

Now the addition of Amazon Fire TV. (wanting to use the My Movies capabilities)

I purchased an Amazon Fire TV Stick when they were released. Fun little devices... I know it runs Android, but I wouldn't bet on it running the same app as the Chromecast whenever it is released. :) So, I just wanted to throw this out there. There is at least one My Movies power user that would like to see the application come to the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Thanks, Brian and team!

I to would like to see it come to Amazon Fire TV, the Amazon Fire TV Stick can connect to a 5GHz wireless network where as the Chromecast will never do anything better then 2.4GHz and find it not feasible to have a wifi router sitting near it (with in cm) just so that it plays. When playing back high def blu-ray movies I get ALOT of buffering from the Chromecast and get so annoyed I have to go to the movie room and watch it through the PC app so that it has the bandwidth for the mounted ISO. I've read google doesn't have plans to update the ChromeCast for 5GHz. Please please reconsider Amazon Fire TV as a playback device.

FYI: I concede that i may give incorrect feedback, but I will try to be accurate as possible

Hmm, I don't have these problems with my Chromecast. And it's located more than 1m away from the router. Strange ôO
