I just opened the my movies app on my iPad and got a pop up regarding half price subscription for My Movies 5 till Dec 31. Unfortunately, I can't find any information on the mymovies webpage, only in the app store it is listed - but I'ld like to know the release notes for this app, what changed and more specific, if there are any changes regarding the licence? (I admit that I am always suspecious when the word "subscription" comes up). Is there a change? Or is it still a one time payment for this major update (Vs 4 to Vs 5). And what has been changed? Can we run Vs 4 parrallel? (I even run Vs 3 still parrallel, due of the search change in Vs 4 and even have Vs 3 still on my iPhone as the old search option is easier to handle when I am shopping to check series of films). It is so strange that I cannot find any mention of Vs 5 here on the website or the forum.... Some enlightment please? Cheers. Wy PS. Oh I just see "you can choose to purchase the separate Pro version as a one-time purchase for that particular major version." regarding the description of the My Movie 5. 🤔 PPS. Now I found the post on X/twitter: https://twitter.com/mymovies_info/status/1732452361002537312 - at least some info in the comments. Guess my questions are more or less answered, except for what is new in Vs 5 (Widgets allone can't be it, can it?) (Unfortunately, due of Mr Musk idea of sorting his posts, this one I never got in my timeline.) PPPS. I got the popup again in the app on my ipad, and although the first part is clear (Upgrade to Vs 5 with 50% of the price as one time payment) the second part of the message is what me got worried (translated, as I get that in German: Do you want to test the upgrade with the help of a Test-Subscription on your complete collection. The word "test-subscription" is what somehow irritates me...) 🤷♂️

I am still confused. so what are my options please:
MyMovies 5 (cross platform) for EUR 22,99 *per year*
vs MyMovies 5 Pro for EUR 17,99 *once* ?
Does „cross platform“ mean there is an upgraded version for Mac OS? (I dont care about Windows)
If not, then why should anyone go with the 22,99 version?

You can also here see details of what is new. Thanks, that was not obvious to find out. I never look in that section, and I never would expect the upgrade information on that place. (Example would be a list of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), for which every year a few new movies are released.) - One thing what bothers me since I watch a lot more on streaming services, is, that when watching series, you only can enter watchdates per episode and not based on the complete series (like you can for a series on DVD, BR, there you have both options). This results in the fact, that those series are never shown when sorted by "last viewed". :(. Question: Has this been fixed in Vs 5? (I can't be the only one who is bothered by that...) Ok - so, there will be a separate e-mail out - it is just not sent yet. To sum up: - There is not any new major version planned for Mac. - You will mainly benefit from a cross-platform subscription if you do not have 2500 points (which unlocks Windows and Mac), or you would like to use Android along with iOS. - We are extending the online collection to be able to do collection management as well, and this will require the cross-platform subscription. - My Movies for iOS won't install on the Mac, you would install the Mac app. If you have a cross-platform subscription, you install the non-Pro version on Mac, which will be unlocked though your user account. - There is no direct benefit from using the web client over Mac, but we get easier to features on this cost/development wise, so it is likely to get features the Mac app won't. In regards to lists - I think you are mis-understanding what lists is - lists is a list you create of titles, either for your own usage, or to share - it is not lists that is auto-changing in any way. You can add other users lists, so if other users add to the lists you will get that update. The sorting by watched have not changed in version 5.

I just upgraded to My Movies 5 on my iPhone. I chose the cross-platform subscription plan. I have been using the My Movies Collection Management software Version 5.4 on my Windows 10 computer. What do I need to do in my Windows 10 Collection Management program to apply my cross-platform subscription to it? Thanks.

If I subscribe to the annual cross-platform sub, with the current 50% off. Is that 50% off for the first year only, or on-going?
Also, do I need to have the cross-platform sub to continue to use and sync with the Windows 10 desktop My Movies app?

That is on-going - it is a permanent discount for as long as the subscription is running. If cancelled, you cannot re-create at the same price. You do not need the cross-platform to continue to use the Windows app, no - it just unlocks all features. If basic features will remain free in the future I cannot say at this time.

Is it worth paying money to upgrade? Looking at the release notes, there does not seem to be any big updates on there that would improve the experience on my iPad. I will check out the trial, and see if I missed anything...
From the release notes, I see:
Lists, Personal Titles, multiple copies of the same movie, reporting... all features that I never use..
Widgets would be useful for now, but as more and more stores drop selling of physical media.. Not sure how useful this would be in a year.
Other than that. My Movies main apps have not been updated in 3 years, most issues get the same response of "Developers busy creating the Android app", which again is useless to me as I am an Apple person.
Is it really worth to upgrade it you are an apple user?
Some things I would like to see in future versions that would be worth paying for an upgrade:
1 - Being able to play the Trailer from your local drive instead of Youtube.
2 - Being able to stream a movie on our iPads... Similar to how it streams to Windows Media Center

Quick Question: Do My Movies 5 (Subscription) and My Movies 5 Pro (One-time Purchase) have the same features?
I ask because the name of the Pro version would suggest that the one-time purchase version might have more features than the non-Pro subscription version. I want to buy the version with the most features and support further development of My Movies.

It is up to you if it is worth it for you or not. Our point on it also is that you are also supporting continued service operation - if we did not have users upgrading, everyone would be looking at a non-operational service. In regards to the development - we do not develop on all platforms at once - in periods we focus on Android, in other periods on iOS and such. What you can rely on though is that we are no longer putting more resources into features around playback from local storage - our stats shows that server features and remote control features are used by less than 0.5% of our users, and while we really like having the whole eco-system, it just does not make sense for us to put development money into it.

I bought MyMovies 5 Pro for EUR 17,99 once, it is installed on my iPad. Now I installed MyMovies 5 Pro on my iPhone, logged in and I can´t synchronize my collection because of the testing limit. Do I have to spend another EUR 17,99 for my iPhone? Thanks for helping.

We develop what we can earn a living on, as we otherwise would be closing our service - we could not make a living on the playback front-ends, and if that is what you need our service for, you should find another service for your usage, indeed.

Hi, is there any kind of road map when version 5 will come to Android or will the new release just drop one day out of the blue? I'd like to buy MM Pro but I'd hate to buy and then having to buy it again a month or so later when version 5 is released. Or will there be a free upgrade for customers who bought their licence just a short time before the new version comes out?
