Interface Overview
Below is an overview of the interface of My Movies for Mac OS X, allowing you to see the functionality of buttons and interface areas.
-Step 1: Login
When opening the application for the first time, you will have to log in through the log in screen. If you do not have a My Movies account, you can log in using your Facebook account, or tap 'Register' which will open the registration page where you can create a My Movies account. After you have submitted the form you will receive an email asking you to confirm your account. If you experience problems receiving the activation email, please visit our documentation page for help with account activation problems.

-Step 2: Add Titles
Once you are logged in you can start adding titles to your collection. You have three options:
A) Add by scanning the barcode with the camera,
B) Add by manual title or barcode search or
C) Add from released and upcoming titles calendar.
A) Add by scanning the barcode with the camera:
You enter barcode scanning mode by clicking the barcode icon in the top menu line.
This will start the camera with which you can scan the barcode. You can narrow the search by country, or choose to search from any country. Before you scan the barcode you need to choose which group the title should be added to, by default the group is set to 'Owned, for Keeps'. Once the barcode is scanned, the title will automatically be added to your collection, and you will get a confirm message next to the green light in the bottom. In case there is more than one version connected to the barcode, you will have to choose the right version from a list of options. When you are finished scanning all your titles click the 'Done' button to view your collection.

B) Add by manual title or barcode search:
You can add a title by manually typing the title or barcode and search our large online data service. You enter the title and barcode search by clicking the magnifier glass icon in the top menu line.
You can narrow the search by country and type. After entering title or barcode number, press enter or click the magnifier button and you will be presented with a list of options to choose from. To preview a specific title, click the title and then click the eye icon in the bottom left of the window. When you have found the right version of the title you need to choose which group to assign the title to from the drop-down menu, by default the group is set to 'Owned, for Keeps'. To add the title click the 'Add' button, and the title will now be visible in your collection. When you are finished adding titles click the 'Done' button to view your collection.
If you check the 'Add as online' option, you can create a link to the movie if it is stored locally or on a server and thereby launch the movie directly from the program.

C) Add titles from released and upcoming titles calendar:
You can add a title by looking through a calendar of released and upcoming titles. To open the calendar click the calendar icon in the top menu bar.
The calendar displays releases one week at a time, and you can choose which country and type to display. You change date by clicking on the date in the calendar and change month by using the arrows in the top of the calendar.
To preview a title click on it and the click then eye icon in the bottom left corner of the window.
To add a title, click on the title and then click the 'Add' button, first you need to choose which group the title should be assigned to, by default the group is set to 'Owned, for Keeps'. When you are finished adding titles click the 'Done' button to view your collection.
Tip: Use the group 'Wished' to create a wish list of new or upcoming movies.

-Step 3: View Collection
Once you have added one or more titles they will be visible in the collection, and you have different options on how to view your collection. You can choose between Wall view, List view and CoverFlow. You change view by clicking the view option you wish to choose just above the collection.

You can expand the collection view by disabling the preview area, to be able to view more titles at once.

-Step 4: Sort, filter and search
Your collection is sorted alphabetically by title. You can change the listing by:
A) Sort or
B) Filter.
And you can find a specific title by using the
C) Search function.
A) Sort: You can change how your collection is sorted by changing which criteria to sort from. You can choose between: Title, collection number, rating, running time, production year, disc release, parental rating, added date, completeness and last watched. Click the label 'Sort by Title' just above the collection area to change the sort criteria. You also have the option to sort ascending or descending within each criteria.
B) Filter: You can create filters to be able to view specific titles according to specific criteria's, such as production year or personal rating. To create a filter click the + icon in the bottom left corner. First you have to choose a name for your filter and then which criteria's should apply to this filter. You can add one or as many criteria's as you wish from the selection available. To add one more criteria click the + icon on the right side, next to the existing criteria, and to delete a criteria click on the - icon (the - minus icon only appears when you have two or more criteria's).When you have set the criteria('s) click 'OK' and the new filter will appear in the left section just below the group label. Clicking on a filter name will change the collection to only display titles that fit the criteria('s) of that filter. To delete a filter, click on the filter and click the - icon in the bottom left corner.

C) Search: The search field is placed in the top right corner. By default the search criteria is set to search for titles, to change this click the magnifier icon in the search field and choose from the following search options: Title, barcode, director, cast, notes and tags, collection number, location or all. Type what you wish to search for and the collection view will display the titles that fit the search.
-Step 5: View Title
To see details of a specific title, click the title in the collection to view the details in the preview area. Use the top menu to add/edit personal data (such as personal rating, location, purchase place, price and more), register a loan/return, change watched status, delete the title, contribute with new data or report incorrect data.
Clicking the cover image, will flip the cover and show the back cover, double clicking the cover will show the cover full size.
-Step 6: Create Personal Title
If you have a personal movie you would like to add to your collection you can create a personal title. Click the 'create new title' icon in the top menu bar to open an empty data window.
Fill out the desired information, as minimum the title needs to be set. To create a front and back cover go to the cover section and load pictures. Once you are done entering data, click the 'Save' button and the title will be added to your local collection.

If you are accessing your collection from other clients such as My Movies for iPhone, you need to upload the personal title to the server to be able to access the title from your other clients. To do this you click the 'Upload' button in the top menu bar, and the title is now available on all your clients (to upload your title you must as minimum set a title, type and country).
IMPORTANT: If you have a retail title that is not in our database, please do not use this option to add the title to your collection, instead use the 'Contribute' button once you have filled out the data. By contributing the data, you make it available to all My Movies users and earn contribution points which can lift the 50 title limitation on My Movie for Mac OS X Free.
